Anyone regret getting Basalt Black over Black?
Or ... anyone regret getting Black over Basalt Black. With all the pros and cons of each, I still can't make up my mind!!!!

black is probably easier to blend and paint if you were to , godforbid, get into an accident or get some deep scratches.
basalt, like other metallics, usually require the entire panel and some of the surrounding panels to be re-painted.
black may be a little harder to maintain because it has less metallic particles/etc to hide scratches. but it is ever so satisfying.

Personally I don't like Basalt - its basically black, but I think it loses some of the sheer beauty of pure black (if and when it is clean and waxed out). To me its sort of a washed out black. My first 911 was black and I swore I would never get another, but now my 997S launch car is black, and I think it looks fabulous. Its just a lot of work to keep up. I'm hoping to find a half dozen hours this weekend to bring her up to speed (polish and wax), but the new detail guy I found is starting to sound good too!

Had a basalt black '03 turbo and a Cayenne S in regular black. Personally, Iwouldn't do basalt again, that non mettalic black looked so much better when they'ew parked side by side.

I have black and am looking forward to ordering my next car with Basalt Black. I had a rental car in Germany last fall with the Basalt. After driving it for 2 weeks, fell in love with it. It has so much depth to it, very good looking.

I'm in the camp of people who prefers pure black to bassalt. While the bassalt appears to be more kind to showing swirls and scratches, I personally feel that the pure black looks more stunning after you've detailed it. It has that piano looking finish to it that just makes you say WOW, whereas bassalt just isn't as eye popping.
As the owner of two pure black cars, I've elected to do something different this time around for personal reasons. However, if I were to do black (and I did consider it), I would have definitely done pure black over bassalt.

Basalt Black
I own the 06 997 C4S Black and a Cayenne Basalt Black. When both cars are clean and you put them side y side, the black looks stounding and showy. Having said that, Basalt hides dirt and scratches better. When I replace the Cayenne, it will not be Basalt. If I decide on black, it will be plain black.

I have a 997s basalt black with black interior. And it looks great under the sun. Whereas flat black looks like any other flat black colored vehicle.
Basalt black adds some uniqueness to its "color" over regular black.
But either way, black is just bad *** in any variation.
