The windscreen is effective in reducing buffeting, but I can't use it. I have to put the seat all the way back and it hits the front of the deflector. I wrote to PCNA requesting a windscreen that fit properly. They referred me to the dealer! What is he supposed to do, except to furnish me a new, correctly fitted unit that Porsche provides? I have written to them two more times and been ignored. I'm sure that I am not the only tall driver out there that has a problem with it. I would be glad to struggle with looking through the black mesh.

I always used the windscreen in my SL. Its something you get used to just like the self dimming mirrors.

The the temp around 46 to 48 degrees, I always use the windscreen. As mentioned above it does keep the cab nice and calm. On days, if we ever have them about the northwest I keep the screen down...I have heard of taller drivers moving the seat back and hitting the windscreen.

You don't have to remind me. I cracked the damn thing 24 hours after I took delivery by moving and reclining the seat back (I am 6' 2") and the little tab also popped out and scuffed the leather. My dealer replaced the screen under warranty (I told him the memory seat on the other key did it when I unlocked the door because I was so pissed and embarrased. ).

I agree there is a design issue for tall drivers. I cannot use the screen and get seated comfortably.

I use it when I'm driving on the highway at highway speeds. It does make a difference vis a vis noise and wind buffeting. I don't bother with it when I'm driving locally.

It makes a huge difference, I defintely use it, unless I'm driving around town or in the city where I'm not exceeding speeds of 35mph.

I'm 6'4" and it is a little bit of squeeze for me. I would have broken it if I hadn't read some posts on here and learned from others mistakes (THANKS!!)

It will definitely mess up your hair at highway speeds without it. Also, when it's cooler, like 38 degrees this morning, I like to have it in place. I usually install it in the winter and take it out in the spring when things warm up a little bit. I like that it is easy/fast to put in and take out.

So after all this blah..blah... blah...I do both, but I would not want to do completely without it.

How in Sam Hell do you fit in that car, let alone drive it, at 6'4" with the windscreen installed? I can 'just' get comfortable at 6'2" without the screen installed!!!

You guys are freaks, maybe you should check out the Lincoln Navigator dealership.

Of course I'm 5-10 so I wouldn't be saying that to you guys in person.

I'm 6'5" and I also fit ok with the wind screen installed...... Quite comfortably actually, but then I also read of other's misfortunes re the wind screen vs tall drivers during my pre-delivery waiting period.

I also don't subscribe to a slammed back, barely able to reach the steering wheel, let alone see over it, with elbows locked that I see in a lot of sports cars with younger drivers.

LOL. That may describe me. Except that I am not a younger driver. Unless you are 60!

I used to drive like that, until I had a 4 hour road trip and I thought my back was going to give out. Then I remembered a picture of Walter Rorhlerherh (sp?). He seemed very tall and he was driving the 997C4S. His seat was forward and upright, the steering wheel was positioned far toward him so his arms were bent but comfortable and his knees where bent quite a bit. So I decided to give it a try and I'll be damned if I am not actually more comfortable than before. I can stay comfortable for an entire tank of gas on the freeway now!
