am I missing out by getting a C2 997

JARO,
I offer a different option. Get a 993 to complement the Cayenne. I sold my Cayenne S and bought a 993 C2. I drove several 997S's thinking I would get one. While the 997 is technically superior and faster, I felt a connection to the aircooled 993 that transcended all the technical improvements of the later model. Also 40% less than your used 997.
Just a thought.

One dealer contacted me about an '05 997 with the following options:
sport chrono
Nav
Litronic
dual power seats
heated seats
painted crest wheel centers
Bose
7000miles
No CPO
2.5 years warranty
Asking $69,000 USD
What would be a fair price to pay for this car?

i dunno, if you get a 997 C2 (non-S) get the badge delete option
I just don't understand it personally.
I would go for the C4S - this was the lusted after driver's car, turbo widebody, brakes, n/a engine -
between a lightly option 997 C2 and a fully loaded 996 C4S - Personally I'd take the 996
Drive both however - decide if YOU feel the improvements to chassis is worth it, because otherwise they're the same engine, tranny, etc...

I wanted a C2S but couldn't see enough diference to spend $15k more. I love my 2005 997 C2 with 14,500 miles. It has plenty of power and trumps my 996 by far. At $59k, I think you've found a good deal. Remember that the S is only .2 seconds faster in 0-62 and does 182 instead of 177. Will you ever go that fast? I did get PASM, 19" wheels, full leather seats and few other options but I'm very happy with my choice. After the 997's have been around for a while, then I may trade up to a used S. Good luck and PCA is a good idea even if you don't attend their meetings. Tha Panorama magazine is worth the price of membership. I've been a member since 1974.

I think the new Caymen is a great car but I don't see it beating the 997 base car "hands down". It has a slight handling advantange with its mid engine and is a beautiful car but I'd still prefer the 911 as a road car. It has more power, more room for people and luggage and is a better "real world" car, in my oppinion. If you don't need the extra room for travel, the Caymen may be the better buy at $10k less. It all comes down to personal preference.

I want to say I am not good at neg. at the dealers, are there any guidelines or formula that remain true on pricing for a Porsche, new or used. I know there are some people that know my pain, and I am very impresses with this thread and the prices people are getting.
I am a PCA member and have an 02 C4Cab, (its for sale) I want a used 05 or 06 997S but to get an idea on what cars are being priced at new, I have been looking at 06 997S, from 79K to 101K in the Midwest Chicago Milwaukee area, the invoice plus 5 is what I offered one dealer on a 100K car. I figure I would insult them first (if possible) and work my way up. They have repeatedly stuck to 1-2k below MSRP which I think is very high. I am mystified that my skills are that bad with car dealers. Any ideas as how to neg on a fair price on new cars. The same advice should hold true for used, right?

bahaha
I feel bad for the car dealer I next buy from, because that salesman, GM, and whoever else comes out will be put through the ringer...
Let's just say, I've made a scene at the return desk at best buy, no problem.
