I go without a frame. Less is more.

Check out Auto Geek and Herrington's for their frames.

Get the least memorable frame, don't customize you car in anyway. God forbid you get a cutsie easliy memorable vanity plate! Why? because lots of other-people-drivers don't like us; we pass them all the time and they get pi**ed

I got a plain metal frame and painted it the same color as my car and it looks very sharp.

I picked up a frame from Brumos Porsche while visiting on vacation. I'm a bit of a racing nut and they have a significant racing history.

I use the frames from Herrington (and other places) that have a plain black frame with a clear plastic cover (all molded together) - very very clean, protects the plate, and looks nice. Personally I don't like frames that say something, just clean looking suits me. Why anyone (whether with a Porsche or a beater) keeps the dealer frames is beyond me.

Here's the frames I use - have used them for a dozen years on all my cars, very nice!

and cheaper here: http://www.performanceproducts.com/p...e+Plate+Frames

Not legal in California to have the cover over the plate, but only a fixit ticket and last and only one I had was 10 years ago.

Try Beechmont Porsche. I purchased mine there and it looks pretty sharp.

Tip: Get one of those smoked plastic plate covers and stick in your frame. Why? because they reduce the contrast and make the plate less in-your-face. Illegal in your area? I'd be amazed if a cop noticed and you got a ticket for it, especially since the ready made excuse "the guy at the auto store said it was alright for me to put in on my car, officer??!!!!"

The only kind of cover I might be interested in is the kind that diffuses and distorts reflected light when hit by a strobe, thus making it difficult to pick up by the ubiquitous "Photo Enforced" intersections here. Perhaps that's why any kind of plate covering is illegal in California.

Of course if you get a frame then you'll also have to get a clear bra for it.
