Default PSE cost ?

I have deceided to pull the trigger and add the PSE option to my 2 month old car that does not have it.Most of you on this forum have such valueable info that I was wondering what is cost on this option? What should I pay for a fair price from the dealer or what do you guys think is a good deal.I believe installation is 6 to 8 hours so please give me ideas on what that shoud run.I don't want to get screwed by the dealer and I also woul like a good deal.I know no better source of information then this forum. Thanks in advance!!!

I was quoted $2400 + 4 hours for install. If you have the sport chrono pack then you can have it hooked up to that as well but install time goes to 11 hours. I woud go for option 1. Have it on at all time!!!

I was quoted a little under $1800 plus four hours labor without the electronics install, eight hours with the electronics install. Sounds like some dealers are getting every penny of the list price to me.

The PSE prices seem to be dropping a bit in the past month or so. Porsche quoted me $3000.00 installed a couple of months ago. I put Tubis on mine. ($2395.00 out the door)

Larry,

Any power increase with the Tubi?...how would you compare it to PSE (weight, sound, power, etc.)

Thanks

I shopped all around the country by phone for the equipment and got the best price from Brandywine Porsche in PA. I paid somthing less than $1800 for the official Porsche PSE kit... I forget exactly. I then brought the official Porsche parts to the Porsche service center of my choice for install. I do remember that install was with electronics, took a full 8 hours, and they were hustling. I watched the whole thing through the glass windows of the service center. Install was on the high side of the scale at $150 per hour. I've read here that one can do better on the per hour charge by shopping service centers.

Smart decision BTW. PSE is a great piece of kit.

Brandywine $1,650 for parts (ebay or direct); Suncoast about the same ($1,700 on ebay). List price is about $2,391. Install without electronics should be no more than 2 hours labor (it actually takes less than an hour for a mechanic who knows what he is doing). With electronics (if you have sport chrono) its more like 4-6 hours labor they would charge you and maybe +2 hours if you don't have sport chrono.

Note the 997 PSE includes the dual chrome tips in that price (997 PSE has two exhaust pipes each side (unlike Fabspeed and some other aftermarket mufflers which have only one each side).

Don't bother with the electronics - leave em on all the time! That's what I did and no regrets, but you can always add the electronics later if you decide you need the quiet option.

Although I had my dealer install mine (partly because they are close to my office and convenient and treat me well), its so damn simple you can do it yourself or have a muffler shop throw them on - just a few bolts and swap out and your done.

exactly.....PSE well you know the costs by now....exhaust install...took my dealer under an hour but he was working on the car already...till they get the car in and jacked up etc is all chargeable time .....electronics is approx. 6-8 hours of placing the wiring...that is all that takes time.....good luck

you can install mufflers only in an hour. or install mufflers and vacuum hoses in leass than two hours. this way you can manually turn on/off from engine bay by connecting/disconnecting a single vaccum hose.

porsche installation instruction for the pse quotes 4.4hrs for non soport chrono and 3.3 hrs w/sport chrono. most delaers quote 6-10hrs just to make profit or beecause they are not experience enough in the installtion.

just go with Fabspeed. Better cost less. Very easy to do yourself.

Default compare OEM and non-OEM before you buy

I have the AWE full exhaust and love it. I'm sure the PSE is great but it is a big choice so educate yourself. I had a customer come by my shop who had installed PSE...I took him for a ride in my car and his comment was "I wish I checked this out before I bought the PSE"

It's all a matter of personal taste. Anyone considering an exhaust, If you're in the Baltimore area, stop by and have a listen to my system...directions to my shop can be found on my website at www.motomodz.com

go to www.awe-tuning.com and listen to their system. Impressive sound and performance.

fer 2367,
sorry I'm late in responding. I really like the Tubi mufflers. According to the advertisement @ Champion Motorsports the Tubi is lighter the the OEM mufflers, and your car will run a little cooler (mine does) The sound is terrific..a little bark pulling away from a stop, no resonance at any RPM levels. My seat of the pants dyno tells me there is a slight performance increase. Car pulls harder and faster from 4000 up. Product is beautiful in itself and my tech tells me the Tubis fit perfectly, unlike the older ones. Friends tell me the car sounds GREAT. I am pleased with them and would recommend them, based on my experience with mine. No on/off BS...they are on the entire time.
