What do you use to lift your 997? Does a standard Craftsman jack fit under a 911?
I'm asking because I want to buy a jack this weekend so I can throw on my snow shoes.

Summit Racing has a gorgeous jack - in fact it looks and works so well that I donated my Sears jack to goodwill.

I'm a little reluctant myself to go with a Harbor Freight floor jack. I've heard problems with seals leaking in these Chinese designed and built jacks.

I ended up buying a Craftsman jack for $30 (on sale) that come in its own plastic case - perfect for those of us who are city dwellers. Its low clearance is 4 1/2 inches compared with 5 1/2 inches which seems to be the standard jack height.

It is the Craftsman 2 1/4 ton Floor Jack model 50523:

It comes in a plastic carrying case that fits well in the bottom of the trunk. I'll post tomorrow if I get a chance to swap my snow wheels and let you know how well it works. Looking at the web link it is usually 39.99 but 10 buckaroos off until tomorrow!!!!!

Oh, I think I have that one already, or at least one very similar to it. It does a good job, but I'm looking to buy one of the beefier ones that has a higher lift and higher capacity. Those usually run close to a hundred bucks or more.

Are you putting snows on all 4?

Evidently Summit Racing sold out of these and now sells a red one that looks similar, but who knows?

On the topic of Jacks, what is the ground clearance at the points the jacks have to be placed (many of the 'Standard' jacks are more than 4.5 inches I think) which may be too tall for the jack to fit under the car?
