as i continue my quest for a 997s, my current dream car, i have a quandry...buy or order a new 06, with the options i want, which would be a msrp of around 89-90k for the coupe, or try to find a nice 05-06 previously owned...of course the used ones have various options, some you like, some you dont, and they are also missing options you want want...of course the used car may not be your number one color choice...i figure a nice 05 s coupe used would go for about 75-77k $, about 10k dollars less than a new 06...given that funds are currently tight and certainly not unlimited, which route would you go??
I think you'll find that the vast majority of the people here have ordered new cars and a lesser number have purchased cars off a lot (new). Thus, I would imagine that the slant will be toward new.
With new you have the depreciation, etc. etc., but you also can equip it exactly as you want. If you're happy with a grey or silver car (90% of the production it sometimes appears) then buying used is certainly a viable option.

I always buy new, especially my dream car. I'm the only one who's ever driven in, ate in or farted in my car, can't put a price on that!
point well made...in fact when you put it that way, i dont even want a previously owned porsche...but then again, how do you know the porsche test drivers at the factory didnt eat and fart in your new porsche???
given that funds are currently tight and certainly not unlimited, which route would you go??
I always buy new but had to think twice when I saw a low mileage black on black Carrera S at the local Aston Martin dealer going for $10,000 under MSRP. I don't even like black cars but this one looked particularly good and the price was hard to beat for a car that looked like it just came off the showroom floor. If funds are tight and the $10,000 makes the difference in getting a Porsche or not, go for used. If you get it certified it will also have a longer warranty. Don't worry about the farts. While I looked at Ferrari, the new ones were out of my league and I was shopping for a used one.

Nah. Lots of people are not surgeons and still have a dream car in mind. The buy preowned and save a bundle, sometimes out of necessity. There's nothing wrong with it. They may even enjoy it more.

They may not have eaten while assembling the interior of your new car, and depending on what they may have eaten earlier, they may well have fahted on the seat, but then the seat was wearing protection with the plastic seat covers and any farts would have been "safe farts".

True enough, but that wasn't the question, it was to buy a new 997S(100k car) or a used one to try and save 10k(90k car). Believe me, I paid my dues and drove plenty of sh&t boxes (that I could barely pay for) in my time. I wish I made 1/2 as much as you think I do, so let's save the 'workers of the world unite' thread for the OT forum.
Sorry to hijack your thread, just trying to make a point in a lighthearted manner.
It is bad form to dwell on who may have deflowered your wife or girlfriend, and it is similary ill advised to think for more than a moment about someone FARTING IN YOUR PORSCHE!
