point taken. so it doesnt bother you, but it does others. i commented beacuse you said you couldnt understand what our issue was. same goes for rattles in the car. i hate them, but some say its no big deal. different opinions thats all.

It'll only chime after you start driving not at start up. Obviously those bothered by the chime only are so because they choose not to drive with seatbelts on.

Mine chimes as soon as the engine is started. Maybe it's different because it's a tip.

Henri40 visit an auto recycler and get the tang from a seatbelt from any late model (90's on) VW, Audi and plug it into the seatbelt receiver. No more dings. I do this when I wear my harness at the track. If on the other hand it's because you don't wear your seat belt, I suggest you re-consider. There is no way to de-program the chime on the new cars.

You can however easily decapacitate (render broken) the tone generator. Easy to do when instrument cluster is out. Problem is whetever else the chime tells/warns you about (lights on, keys in, etc ) will also go un-chimed.

That, alone would almost be a worthwhile improvement to trade my car for a 2006.

Looks like someone at Porsche does listen after all.

not only that, but it shuts off completely after 1 minute. (you're welcome for the experiment)
I don't know about trade in, you can buy a lot of earplugs for the hit.

Does anyone know how to disable the driver side airbags? If I crash I dont want to risk damaging the interior with a deployment.

Just picked up my car, had the winter tires put on, my 2004 chimes 7x then shuts off while the car isn't moving. I don't know if it shuts off eventually if the car moves, and I don't think I'll find out.
