Disable the interior motion sensor (procedure described in the owner's manual) and see if that's the culprit.

I've been having this problem. After 5 or six random alarms( only in the middle of the night, weird.), I took it to the dealer. "Sorry can't find any faults, duh, don't know what to do." The freakin thing still goes off. I'm pissed so I just leave it off at night and hope the low crime rate here holds.

Sorry to resurect but the alarm is driving me nuts. I don't understand the double clicking. One opens the door the next one unlocks it. How do you double click or am I missing something

From the manual -

If a person or animal remains in the vehicle:
f Quickly lock car twice.
The doors cannot be opened from the outside.
The passenger compartment monitoring is
switched off.

Mine has gone off a few times on its own, not lately though.

One of my horns went out - common problem - not very expensive to replace. Big difference in sound.

Did you replace the horn yourself? I had my alarm go off a few times in the middle of the night and then the horn went out recentlly as well (well one of them still works but there must be 2 as the sound is pretty lame). One of the previous posts mentioned that there was some connection between the alarm going off and a short in the horn. Want to see if its easy to replace myself

Thanks

I watched the mechanic do it. Looked pretty easy & straight forward

I watched him do it because they checked it off on the 20,000 mi service checklist but they missed it. I knew it was out because the mechanic at the previous owners dealership caught it immediately when he beeped the horn exiting the bay. I took it back when I read the checklist - wasnt happy.

They also left out the oil drain plug washer when they changed the oil & overtorqued the plug - I found this out when I DIY'ed the next oil change - I called the service manager just to let him know - I wont be going back.

Alarm in my 2008 cayenne went off randomly since I got it. Deactivating interior motion sensor only solved problem shortly. Truck would go dead if sit 2 days or more. Replaced battery no more problems. I had one used battery but didn't work new battery solved problem.
