Pick up a copy of "Rendezvous" in DVD form (Ebay) and run it over and over again.

Congrats!

What allocation month are you in?
Have you received a Pro-Forma invoice yet? (thats when the real waiting begins!)

Go to the following link, it will explain the order process, and Pro-forma status codes in detail (it's for the Boxster, but the process is the same):

http://www.986faq.com/3-0/default.asp

Enjoy!!

If, and I guess that's a big if, the car leaves the factory next week and gets on a boat shortly thereafter, early Jan? I haven't gotten a hard delivery date yet, so I'm trying to calm myself down a bit and figure around Jan 15th. If that date comes and goes, I'll probably be comatose by then

Probably not, I think what I have is the order invoice from the dealer? This I got a couple of weeks after I placed the order

Guess I should make the obligatory post about the specs?
"S"
blk/blk std leather
dimming mirrors
power seat pkg
heated seats
nav
Bose (no 6 disc changer)
rear wiper
Carrera S in black (can't believe they want $130 to do that!)
Lobster fork wheels

And of course I'm laying in several gross of MF towels, most every polish, instant detailer and wax known to modern man, totally painted the inside of the garage and the floor, ordered new lights, bought a dozen pit bulls, placed razor wire around the perimiter and installed high intensity external lights and been picking OC Ben's detailing brain (and that of others too) with umpteen questions. I'm widening the doors from the garage to the living room and paving the back yard for those long drives

You could do what I did. Start a subscription to the Porsche magazine, "Excellence", (available from Amazon) and see which arrives first; your P-car or your 1st issue!

Full leather - $3365,
Sport Chrono Package Plus - $920,
Seeing your Porsche listed in Excellence magazine - Priceless.

MJ - that's a great link,...I have not seen all of the codes printed out like that before. I'll have to add them to my site at some point - cheers.

I am now IMPINV (Vehicle Complete and Invoiced) - so hopefully will be on the boat this week!

That's actually an incomplete list, Dave. It doesn't include the important CKPNT8 (Check Point 8 - final qual inspection) and other codes. You might want to find a more complete list for inclusion in your site. Your dealer should be able to provide you with a complete list.

Cool Ben,...BUT I have to say that when I saw the header for your reply the phrase 'actually...incomplete' caught my eye and I almost had a heart attack - I thought you were telling me that there was something wrong!
BTW, do you know the diff between PRDLST (Factory Last Checkpoint) and CKPNT8?

Hmmm, they seem to be one and the same, which leads me to believe that PRDLST is an outdated code, since CKPNT8 is currently the correct code for final quality inspection, after which the car is prepped for transport. That 986faq web site is an old site that used to be quite popular about 7 yrs ago when the Boxster was all the rage. I used it when I ordered my Boxster 5 yrs ago and it wasn't updated back then, leading me to wrong information on one occasion. Don't really know the last time it's been updated, but it looks like those codes may not be the most updated if those two codes mean the same thing. If you're on good terms with your sales rep (which I have no doubt you are) I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem to get them that way. ... Good luck!
