From the posts that I've read here I can tell you that I have apparently paid the most by a long shot. I used the best "stand alone" Porsche dealer in my area with techs that had performed the installation several times previously. Their time was $150.00 per hour and it took 8 hours = $1200.
AND, I got to use their phone for FREE.

The local dealer installed my PSE. They did an excellent job and the cost was $582 labor. Although my 997S came with the Sports Chrono package, they installed a new interior combined switch module, which is a part that comes separate from the sport exhaust kit that the dealer originally ordered. The part number for the switch module is 997-613-131-00. Instead of saying "Sport" on the switch, it shows two exhaust tips. PSE truly is a great option!

It shouldn't be in the 1K range... It prolly takes a couple of hours to do the exhaust part (if that) and then maybe 2.5 to do the inteiror and wiring...

My dealer quoted me 8 hours (from their tech guides), and charged me for 8 hours. It actually took them a few hours longer and said it was due to it being the first one and all the computer hookups (Sport chrono).

You might be able to install the exhaust without hooking up the wiring (like with the 996 & 986 PSE), which cuts the labor time dramatically. W/o the wiring, the muffler bypass is always enabled, which is the way I have it on my car now (I unplugged the wire).
