The thicker steering is nice but if you have small hands the regular steering wheel might be better.

If you are going with full leather, then get the leather rear center console. Ray G posted a good pic of his leather console. Why not go "whole hog" and get the X51 package? Aerosmith & Ray G seem to be EXTREMELY happy with this option.

PCCbs are toooo costly to maintain IMO, I'd pass, big reds are more than enough.

I highly recommend the self-dimming mirrors and the multi-function steering wheel. Color combinations are so personal that I'm loath to make recommendations. That said, I think the terracotta interion on the 997 is just too much color; it's nicer in the CGT where it's more of an accent color rather than the entire interior. I've seen pics on Rennlist of the Artic Silver with cocca and that seems a lot nicer. And, if you're at all concerned about resale, I suspect Silver/Cocca is probably more desireable.

Christophorusesuess reports that the second gen disks last 10x on the track under endurance racing conditions over the steel units. FWIW.

Check out the UK porsche website, they offer the -20 suspension w/ LSD as an option on the 997 C4S, click on sport suspension icon, US site just describes the std suspension.
The std big reds could be replaced 20 times for the cost of the PCCBs.

I have it narrowed down to Arctic Silver/Cocoa or Atlas Grey/Black full leather......
I wish they offered the -20 in the US, it would be a no brainer for me.
I'm still 50/50 on the PCCBs, I REALLY have to drive them to decide, the dealer said he will call me if something comes along....right. The X51 is great but it puts the car close to the TT price point IMO. Now if they bundled it with the PCCBs at a special price........hmmmm

I passed on PCCB--the eventual replacement cost of rotors, especially if you track the car turned me off and the big reds on the 997S have tremendous braking ability. Switch to a set of Pagid orange pads for the track and you'll have all the brakes you ever need. And you can replace a lifetime of the cast iron rotors and you'll never approach the option cost plus one replacement set of PCCB rotors. At the right price, I'd consider them for the advantage of less unsprung weight but $8150, no thanks.

As far as your options, I highly recommend XPA thicker 3 spoke steering wheel--I kid you not, that's my favorite interior option in the Club Coupe. It feels so nice in your hands--it's almost suede like to the touch--and it makes the standard leather steering wheel feel like it came out of an econobox car.

Not to be argumentative but guys, these tires are not significantly lower profile than the 18" tires that have been on the 996 Turbo for 5 years. They're larger in diameter but the aspect ratio is identical on the rears (295/30) and 235/35 19's up front vs. 225/40 18's isn't a significant difference in sidewalls. How did we ever survive all this time with no TPMS on the Turbo? The horror!!!!

Get TPMS if you like, but no reason to let the tire sizes scare you into it.

TPMS is an option I'd avoid like the plague. I delelted it on my 2nd Cayenne turbo, and it drove me crazy on my 928, and on the first Cayenne TT.

Getting all 4 tires to read the same presure is a nightmare, and highly dependant on the position of the sun relative to the wheels, especially in California.

I'd set them all with the same guage and after a few day they'd be off a lb or so.

I agree with Colm regarding the TPMS. Ordered silver/cocoa on my Cayman S so quite partial to it. I do have the GEN II PCCB's on my turbo S and I do track the car ocassionally. Unbelievable retardation and no fade what so ever, although everytime I press the brakes, I imagine seeing $ being grinded by these huge yellow calipers. No problem so far and no cracks on the disks.

I'm getting Artic with grey interior and it's great. Check out the Adaptive Sports Seats - they're fantastic - once you sit in them you'll want them. Our local dealer has a Artic w/cocoa and it's nice - i still like grey better.
