my favorite lights are on the 3.6 996 - I really like subtly updated bodywork

I like those lights on the Boxster and a simular style on my Cayenne. The 997 with return to the "orig" lights ala 993 JUST ROCKS and will show a good transition from the Boxster headlamps to the Cayenne headlamps to my 997 headlamps...

I'm actually trading my 996 C4S for a 997 C4S, can't wait, hope it's half as good as the 996.

The mere fact that Porsche reverted back to the 993 type headlight after so much infighting on the looks issue within the company and among owners.

Also, other companies capitalized on the beauty of the 993 type headlights in other cars. Look at the mini cooper.

How do you know that? ... Where did you read that?
It would certainly be an interesting read for everyone here. But I don't think that would have been made public. Just curious as to your source.

I think people didn't like the headlights of the early 996 that shares with the Boxster.

I think the 996 folks were pretty upset that the front of their car contained the same body parts as the front of the Boxsters and that the two looked alike head on...

There were articles published back in the late nineties about porsche engineers quiting because of the 996 development. Unfortunately, I don't have them handy to source them for you. Perhaps others may recall this.

I agreed with all the above comments made by the 997 proponents, and went to my Porsche dealer to place an order for a 997. While there, I saw a used Lapis Blue 996C4S....just georgeous! I know the 997s are more capable machines, but the performance envelope of the 996 does not leave me wanting for anything. So I bought the C4S and traded in my M5. Now THERE'S a big difference in fun-to-drive quotient.

i recently did a back to back of an 04 911 vs a 997....a huge difference in ergnomics, shifting, handling, steering feel and even engine sound...also, the 997 chassis is much stiffer and interior andexterior look better...the stereo is better in the 997....no comparison in my book...much better chassis and driving dynamics inthe 997....i cant wait for new gt3 and turbo...these will rock!!!!
