Well, I performed minor surgery on my 997 S cab and installed the clear side markers today. IMO, this is about the easiest, least expensive, and most attractive cosmetic modification one could make. I followed the instructions in the 997 manual for removing the side markers. They came out very easily and completely intact. Placing the clear markers in was even easier.
If you have not perfromed this mod, I encourage you to do so. I am not a clutz, but am not very mechanically inclined, and this was simple. I was actually surprised that my wife even approved of the change and did not think that I had wasted $35 and 20 minutes of my time. We both observed, of course, that the clear marker lenses match the clear fog lights and rear clear lenses above the brake lights much more nicely than the former amber lenses. Also, though, the clear side markers have subtle horizontal lines or stripes that extend across the entire lens. These lines or stripes match very nicely similar lines or stripes found in the rear lenses and in the lenses that surround the headlights.
Another little mod I ordered from the factory was the interior console to match the exterior color. I like the look of it, but have not seen it elsewhere. Anyone else have the console in the color of the exterior? I would be interested in seeing other colors.

Nice.
Yes, we provide factory painted interior consoles (and other bits) for about half the factory option for twice the factory quality, anytime.

It does not make sense to me to spend money on modifications when the car is leased, as mine is. That said, $35 and 20 minutes does make sense to me. I am ordering the clear lenses tomorrow. Thanks for the pics.

I'm pretty sure that all of the European markets sells 997s with the clear side markers. My dealer told me that there are 2 states in the US that insist on Amber, so Porsche imports them all that way, enabling the cars to be legally sold in all 50 states.
