Multifunction Steering Wheel functions
I am new to the board. I currently have an e 46 M3. The lease is up in 5 months and I placed a deposit for a spot on the M5 list. I drove by my local Porsche dealer to check out the competition and ended up driving a Carrera 2S.......Well, I'll be getting my deposit back on the M5.
I have already learned quite a bit lurking on the board and look forward to learning more.
I am not sure which functions are controlled by the multifunction steering wheel. Can someone please help the new kid out?
Thanks in advance.

Left and right thumbs have "rollers" to scroll thru PCM screen.
Also some buttons that fully Controls nav, phone, CD, radio.
IMO, the round wheel looks more up-to-date with the new 997 interior. Also, the only button I use on my BMW wheels is the Cruise Control and track/volume for the CD.
The Cruise AND vol/trk make it worth getting the BMW multifunction wheel. Not avail on Porsche wheel so why bother unless you're on the phone alot?

Thanks for the info. I agree with you... most of my steering wheel button use in my current car is to turn up and down the volume on the radio. Maybe I won't get this.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

I have it the MF wheel and use the buttons all the time. The scroll buttons can also push in for, e.g., muting the radio or CD. I use the mute function often, i.e., at tolls. You can select tracks, CDs, change tracks, volume, map views, basically everything. So, to each their own, but I like the MF wheel.
Plus, in 25 years when Porsche develops a blue tooth interface, Ill be ready for the telephone functions on the wheel!
