997 with Sport Chrono or 997 S without Sport Chrono? What is your choice?

Get the 997 S with Sport Chrono. I love mine and let me tell you, there is a difference in the acceleration and throttle response.

I would choose 997S over 997, whether or not it had sport chrono. But I would get sport chrono with a 997S, especially since it controls PASM as well as other features. (I'm not knocking the 997, but if you can get an S, do it!)

Go with the 997S (and if you can swing it) get your chrono with that S! Remember, after the full price of the car, it would be a shame not to spend the little bit extra and get exactly what you want!

Man, Superfans, you're really all torn up about sport chrono aren't you?

I think you should just get it. It's not very expensive as Porsche options go. If you don't like it you don't have to use it. If you like it you'll be glad you got it.

Personally, I knew I wouldn't be tracking my car and I knew I'd be happy without it. I knew I didn't want it or need it. But that's just me and loads of folks love it.

So seriously, if you're so unsure why not just get it? Then you can post a full report on how you like it.

PS. I think the S is a great value with the added power and extras like Xenons and turbo brakes and 19s, etc.

I agree with AeroSmith. I have the 997 S without Sport Chrono because I never thought I'd use it. For me, it kind of detracts from the aesthetics of the interior, first off. Second, by turning off the PSM (which you can do without Sports Chrono), you get most of what you get with the Sprort Chrono option. Third, I don't think I'll be tracking my car and timing any lap speeds or 0-60 times in the near future. If you want the gadget and don't mind the bump on your dash, why not? But, in the real world, I just don't see using it that much.
