k, no more pre-owned, looking to order...
After my experiences looking for a pre-owned, I figured to buy a new 997 instead. I'm thinking of custom ordering it, but one dealership offered:
Seal Grey/Black int
Power Seats
Bi-Xenons
Heated Seats
MultiFunction Steering Wheel
Bose
Self Dimming Mirrors
Floor Matts
I really wanted Sports Chrono, don't want Power Seats (because I'm only one driving the car...), and I rather have the Sports steering wheel than the multi, but he said he'll put in the sports steering wheel for me for $1000 (although doesn't that mean I paid $950 for the multi, plus $1000 for the swap, minus $250 for the sports steering wheel = $1700 for a $250 option??).
Anyways, he said destination charge is $795 (is this normal?), so the car would list for $79000, and he'd take off $3K for me. Is this a good deal? Should I just make a custom order just to get what I want probably pay the same price? The one he stated comes in late October, but if I order it won't come until early winter (although I can delay that till the start of Spring). Where I am it snows, so I guess getting it Late October vs. early spring is no big deal.
The dealer said that Sports Chrono is useless to me unless I'm at the track (I tried explaining it to him, but he said that that's the only thing its good for -- I didn't want to argue). He also said that almost no one orders that option (the dealer is in NY, so maybe its different there).

After driving my new 997 for 700 miles, there are 2 options I would not and could not live without - Sports Chrono and PSE. There is nothing like hitting the Sport button and hearing the PSE growl.

Send me a PM. I'll give you the contact number for a dealer that will give you at least 5% off and get you exactly want you want. I told a few guys on the board about it and two guys ordered cars and got great deals. I am not affiliated in anyway, just tired to hearing about the runaround we all get when trying to buy a P car. Do they think we are stupid? Most guys that can afford these cars just want to be treated with a little respect and offered a fair deal. You can do better than $3k off, I guarantee it.

I think I'll stick with ordering what I want. Its my dream car, so I shouldn't hold off on the options I want, cause I'd regret it later. Anyways, PM sent Tracy! Thanks everyone!

Every time I check out the online inventory of the dealerships close to me, it seems that EVERY car is ordered with the sport chrono. When paying that kind of $, order it and get what you want. Otherwise, you might regret it later.
