Not a DIY kinda guy? You could do it for about $60. VERY SIMPLE DIY.

could you please explain how easy it is, I would absolutely consider DIY. I don't have much experience though, the only things I've done is to install the fabspeed cold air kit and k&n air filter. I enjoy working on the car and I would love to do the oil change but I don't really know how.

Have you checked over at Renntech.org? Loren has a great tech site going over there with LOTS of DIY info. That is how I learned alot of what I do on my own car.

Here's a link for the DIY. 997 is basically identical to the 996.

Thanks LVDell I just checked out the link, this looks very easy, I will be doing this myself. I enjoy working on my car almost as much as driving it. I appreciate your help!

You are very welcome

FYI.....I had NEVER picked up a tool and worked on a car in my life and then I became involved with Renntech.org and Rennlist and there isn't anything in the "minor" work I don't attempt now. Do my own oil, brakes, fluids, various mods (SSK/Harness Mounts/Trim Pieces), etc.

Can't even put a good guess on how much $$$ I have saved. Gotta love this community!

Dell - You probably have saved a bunch. However, on the other hand (looking at the glass from the "half empty" point of view) how much MORE would you have saved if you had never accessed this site and didn't "discover" all of the cool mods you could do to your P-car?

BTW, have you been able to get the interior view of the Porsche Configurator working on your PC?

So true about the mods Tim! My Lord have I spent some coin and I can pretty much blame this site for those purchases!!! Richard and I talked about this very thing recently and my mod total was hovering around a number that could give the average man a coronary. Oh well, I have enjoyed everything I have done to the car and enjoyed the transformation thoroughly over the years.

Can't wait till the spring when I add my new car to the stable. Still on the fence b/t the 997 and a 996GT3. Wife and I had this talk again last night and a CPO GT3 is probably the way to go for the greatest fun factor since we are both track junkies!
