Heck no, the best plates are the ones the owners really like. It's their plate; it should be something he/she enjoys. Personally, I like the cryptic ones, the ones with good stories behind them. I really dig the IXIXVII plate, as well as the ones with the literary references. But the plate on my M3 - the same plate that's going to go on my 997 - is this:

And if you have to ask... well... that's the point.

Well, I have to ask for starters because it's not legible in the photo. What does it read? B8B55S?

Enjoyed reading through all the names. Where I live, you can't get a personalized plate. Before leaving the US, I was thinking about "Car man", related to the color.

dweiser,

Are you wondering what the "Therefore I am" is referring to on the plate? If it was on a Porsche, maybe the owner was trying to say, "I drive a Porsche, therefore I am." - a play on the familiar quote of Rene Descartes, "I think, therefore I am", which is sometimes seen quoted in Latin, "Cogito, Ergo Sum."

There's a writer for an automobile magazine (maybe it's Automobile) that headlines his column "Cogito, Ergo Zoom" ... or something like that. Maybe you've seen it. I think he's trying to say "I think, therefore I speed" which some may question whether or not he really is thinking. ... Oh well.

It is Automobile that uses "Cogito, Ergo Zoom." The official translation was "I think, therefore I go fast." They also did a shirt with that logo on it when they launched the magazine.

Hey, thanks for that tidbit Greg. I was pretty sure I saw it in Automobile. I guess "Go Fast" has a better connotation than "Speed".

I came up with THR4 IAM last night. I'm keeping a list for when my P-car arrives in November. It's become a bit of an obsession (both the waiting and the plate ideas). I like RECLUSE because I am one (HERMIT is taken) but RECLUSE seemed silly in a 997 Carrera Cab!
The ??????? were as in, so, what do you think of my idea???
And if you live in NC you're not allowed to get this one, it's mine!

Oh, old Philosophy major here.

I saw the letter "K" on New York plates on a 575M. I have no idea how this was legally possible, but he had it and it looked awesome

Two plates that caught my attention: Tall blonde climbs out of a MB convertible HEPAYD. The other with a cute blonde: BJBEST.

I always thought 2N TURBO would be cool on a TT.

Maybe BHN BRNR

And I had UBR WGN on my 540 wagon for over a decade until Uber made it uncool.
