How To Make Stock Exhaust Louder

How To Make Stock Exhaust Louder
I've owned a 997S for about six months now. It has 2500 miles on it and when it is throttled to 7 grand in each gear.....it makes the most beautiful music I can think of. But, that Porsche "howl" is only inside the car. Outside... you can mostly hear only engine noises.
OK, I'm not going to spend a lot of money on this, but I want the exhausts louder OUTside the car. I want to make it scream!
What would happen if I cut the side of each muffler off....gutted the mufflers, and then welded a piece of stainless sheet over the hole? What is that going to affect? Will it void my warranty? I want it LOUD!

Dude, how much did you spend on the car? Why not invest in a nice aftermarket exhaust or PSE. If you can afford the car you can afford a nice sport exhaust.
No way I'd do what you propose on my nice hundred thousand dollar car.

Would not do any cutting on the stock exhaust - as others have said, get an aftermarket exhaust. You could end up messing up engine performance, having a lot of resonance, or creating other problems.
However, the Fabspeed cold air kit is inexpensive, installs in minutes, and it does make a sound difference. (I put it on with stock exhaust, but later added PSE.)

What is the advantage of the PSE?
Aerosmith......Dude, you spent $100k on a stock Porsche? It must be a twin turbo for that kind of money. I've never seen any other Pcar that expensive....except for the GT or Carrerra GT.

If you bought your C2S new I doubt you made it out the door for much less than $100,000. Carrera GTs are $450,000. What's a GT? GT2? GT3? I wouldn't even do what you proposed, tongue in cheek, on my $70,000 2003 996 or my $50,000 Audi allroad.
My 2006 C2S MSRP will be $113,565. I'm getting a 3% discount off of that:
C2S Base Price: $81,400
Cobalt Blue: $3,070
Black Full Leather: $3,365
Navigation: $2,070
Bose: $1,390
Mats: $115
X51 Carrera Power Kit: $16,900 (381 HP )
Power Seat Package: $1,550
CD Changer: $650
Self Dimming Mirrors: $385
TPMS: $590
19" Carrera Classic Wheels: $390
Thicker Sport Steering Wheel: $800
Key Pouch in Interior Leather: $95
Destination Charge: $795
Fortunately the X51 includes the PSE so I can leave my hacksaw at home.

I'm happy with the throttle response on my 996. I assume the throttle response on the 997S will be as good or better. I'm quite good at getting on the gas fast. Too good, my wife would say. If I want to go fast I just floor it. Flooring it in sport (chrono) mode and normal mode yields the same exact throttle opening.
I also have no problems heel/toe downshifting in my 996. Not that I heel/toe downshift much, if at all, in my daily travels.
And as far as timing my travels, the trip computer and NAV will be adequate. I like to go on long road trips. Hours and minutes are fine.
Given my penchant for loooooooong road trips I tried to order what I feel are the appropriate options.
