Guys,
Any of you have the rear wiper blade?
The rear window is so flat that I can see where it could be useful. By the same token I haven't really missed it on my 996.
Right now I don't have one on my 997 order for purely aesthetic reasons.
Should I get one on a car that will be a daily driver? Or should I just stick with the Rain-X?

I have one only becasue it was on the car when I bought it. I have used it on occasion but really didn't need to. Given the choice I would stick with the Rain X

I do not have one on my car. I live in FL where we get big rain and have never had a need for it. Maybe if your in an area that has snow it might come in handy but so far I've never wished I had one in the rain.

As you've noticed, it looks bad. Plus, it adds weight (I know it's not much but it's more about the principle).
My car had rear wiper and it was one of the first things I removed.
IMO if someone really thinks Porsche sportscar needs to have a rear wiper he/she needs to get another car.

The only thing I would use the wiper for is to sweep the condensation from the rear during those humid days with the a/c cranked.
Rain-X works great for me. It's just the fogging that bothers me. I use the defrost for that, takes care of it.

The Porsche Configurator simply lists this option as Rear Wiper. I remember thinking "Man, those Germans are taking personal comforts to new heights. They have thought of EVERYTHING!"

I have the option, live in the snow belt, have used it after starting the car when parked in the rain and actually like the way it looks.
So there.
This is just another one of those personal choices like red vs. black brake calipers, amber vs clear side markers etc, although, really, it has some utility and is more than merely an aesthetic decision.

I reckon I'll pass on the rear wiper and stick with the Rain-X.
I'm having the model designation deleted (as it was on my 996) because I like the clean look. I reckon no wiper adds to the clean look as well. And thank the Lord I don't have to factor snow into my decision making process.
