Default 06 997 Cab

I am no longer a waiter. Yahoo. Ordered it in May, built in July and picked up my 2006 997 Cab on Monday. It is a great car... Here is one picture. I will post others after this weekend.

Thanks for the kind words guys!! I love this car and the H&Rs look sweet...look for some pics this weekend. Alex and company over at Shark Werks did an amazing job!

996toomey - the options are....19" Classics, colored crests, crests in head rests, Nav, Bose, heated seats, sprot chrono, floormats, multifunction steering wheel, a few other ods and ends. the aftermarket stuff is - clear bra, clear side markers, H&R springs for PASM, seal center console. I also visited many dealers including Stevens Creek and being 33 they treated me a bit odd. Since they didn't have any S models they would try to tell me that I wouldnt utilize an S and I should buy one of their base 997 models which they had in stock. That is BS! I found Carlsen to be the best dealer in the Bay Area and met with all of them.

GT3BB - Alex at Shark Werks is your guy...he purchased the springs and had his installer take care of the job. It looks awesome and I will post pics this weekend for sure!

Duane - I was able to get some free "throw-ins" and discounts on the clear-bra. These guys can move 997S cars at sticker all day long and believe me I tried to get them down. I am still satisfied with the free stuff....probably 1K worth.

synergy --
I know what you mean -- I'm a young looking 35 and had similar experiences at dealerships.
Congrats on the new car. Looks awesome.

Okay guys - I put 400 miles on in three days. Simply amazing! Yes, I have struggled with the 4200 RPM, but only hit 5K a few times and am trying to follow the manual and many of your suggestions to take it relatively easy. It has been very hard but I look at it like I am 1/4 the way there at 500 miles.

On Friday a buddy and I went to Sacramento to see what Cache Creek Indian Casino was all about. It was pretty cool actually. I must say that I was a nervous wreck most of the time wondering if my car was okay and checked it like four times in two hours. Every time I won some money I went and checked on it....imagine the money I saved by walking away!!

On Saturday we did the 17 mile drive, however it was pretty late and we lost some daylight as you will see in the below pics. It was also really cloudy and cold but wow was 17 and 1 a fun drive in this beast. I want to go back when it is sunny as I spotted many better locations for ocean pics versus the one we selected.

I am very happy and am just blown away by this car. Total adrenaline rush when you get on it! My oil level went down a notch since I purchased it but the dealer, the manual and other smart guys like Alex (Shark Werks) say it's normal on a brand new car. I am still a bit puzzled by the idle exhaust and it takes a while to get used to. When I start it up when it is cold it really sounds odd. Sometimes I like it and other times I think it sounds like an old beetle. Hopefully it will grown on me as this is my first pcar so maybe I just need to get used to it. There is no doubt, however, that the 3-4k RPM tone is incredible and music to my ears.

The H&Rs look sweet IMHO and the ride is relatively the same as it was before I had them installed. It gives the car a much more aggressive look and for some reason it makes the butt look wider. I parked next to a stock height (non s) it they looked like completely different cars.

I will share some additional thoughts after I put some more miles on this bad boy.

This has been the best weekend that I can remember! i can't wait to continue to mod this car and get to know all of you better!

10MPH in a 997S.... no way!!!!!

Thank you for the up-date and the pictures. How much do the H&R springs lower the car? Looks nice. You cam meet Stigt out there and have a double Seal photo shoot.

Good Luck.

Thanks guys! The springs dropped it about 1.5 inches and the car rides great still which was one of my biggest concerns.

Here are a couple additional pics from the drive:

Default Exhaust sound

Synergy says that "I am still a bit puzzled by the idle exhaust and it takes a while to get used to. When I start it up when it is cold it really sounds odd. Sometimes I like it and other times I think it sounds like an old beetle. Hopefully it will grown on me as this is my first pcar so maybe I just need to get used to it."

My 997S does the same thing - it sounds like a valve in the air intake is fluttering, which gives the car a louder nasal sound. The nasal sound quiets down after a few miles of driving.

Anybody have any ideas what the cause of this might be?
