Post TIRE BLOWOUT!

105 miles on my new 06 997S and BOOM ... the right front tire blows out while doing less than 40mph on a standard paved road. Has anybody experienced early tire failure? The dealership towed my car in and is replacing the tire today, but I honestly have no idea what could have caused it. There is a large rent in the tire at the junction of the side wall and outside treads. Yikes. Should I be worried about the other tires?

3,750 miles so far and no tire failures. I have had the passenger side sun visor, PCM, Navi DVD player & Navi DVD disk replaced, the SFRTW deal and yet I still love my 997S. Best of the five Porsches I have owned.

Fluke. Any chance the dealer didn't reduce the air pressure at pre-delivery? They will often inflate the tires to 50 psi so that the tires don't flat spot. I guess you will never know now that it is at the dealer.

i used to work in docks in uk where new cars were being delivered and appart from the usual thrashing by the drivers on and off the ship, they often clipped the tyre walls on ledges/strapping points on the deck of the ship bubbling the walls (sometimes on the inside wall of the wheel so sometimed goes unseen)
