If Ku (not Ka) signal ever makes it to the states (used already in Europe), the Passport folks (like myself) will just have to send their units into the company for the upgrade. The Val 1 is programmed to read this out of the box. Do a google and type in "passport 8500 Ku" for the latest word. Things could have changed since last time I read the report (several months ago).
