Default Do you drive your car in the rain?

How many or you guys or girls drive your cars in the rain. In the past I never have driven my classics in the rain, but I have never loved a car this much or paid this much for a car before. It seems a waste to not enjoy it as much as possible, but I also hate to muck it up with the rain.

I don't. We did a poll and most people have second cars, most with SUVs. That's what I drive in the rain, an LR3.

What's a day or two without the 997? Anyway it makes you really appreciate the feel of the 997 after you drive another car for a few days.

I'm with Texas 911. If it is definitely raining with more rain to come I drive the SUV, you can't have any fun driving in the rain. If it looks like rain and may not rain I take the Porsche if I feel like it.

It's a frickin' car: drive it! They are supposedly designed to be daily drivers in Arctic and sub Arctic winters.

I'm the unlucky guy that got hit in the right rear quarter panel and wheel in my 997 S 2 weeks ago, it was on a rainy day. This guy wasn't looking anyway, but the rain does not help. We pay $90K to $130K for these 911's, and you take the risk of someone like him hitting you.

When I get my car back, probably the end of August, I will never drive it in the rain, and further will try to make right turns instead of left, and will be checking my rear view mirror more than before.

You can do everything right, and if they mess up, they can mess you up.

Check this out, there is a company called Wreck Check or Wreck Checks, and they write up a professional quality estimate of what the Dimished Value is for your wrecked vehicle. I have done a lot of research, the insurance co. will tell you to prove your Porsche suffers a Dimished Value, we all know a new 911 will to some degree. Consider the way we all would think when told it was in an accident. You will have to be the Great Salesman to convince a prospective buyer that yes, your repair guy repaired it just like it was from Germany. It might be true, but you are going to have to be very convincing.

The insurance co. will look away when you bring this up, the rates would go thru the roof if everyone did this.

Having this done professionally is the way you would have to go, if you get a lawyer, he will collect about 1/3 of what you get back if you win. I'd see if you could just use Wreck Check(s) alone, and skip the 1/3 to the lawyer.

Not only do I drive it in the rain, but I am seriously considering putting winter tires and driving it on those winter days when there is less snow. I usually buy a used SUV for the winter which I sell in the spring. I will do it again this year, but this time I want to take advantage of those days when there is no snow on the roads (keep in mind home to office is about 4 miles and I have indoor parking at both places).

To each his own, but I will not sacrifice to the point that all I am doing is taking care of the car for the next guy that buys it from me.

Rain ? bring it on ! I want to enjoy my car as much as possible and that means driving it.

I just drove my car, riding on brand new Corsa tires, through a torrential rain.

On road trips you can have it all. I've experienced it all....
Rain, thunderstorms, snow, sleet...
So much fun when visability drops to nill!
I say drive em...they wont shrink

I NEVER drive it in the rain . I want to keep the undercarriage spotless so that the dealer gives me 7 cents more in trade-in value 5 years down the road .

My car is a daily driver, my Beemer is driven rain or shine. I would rather be in my beemer than my suv in the rain. It is more safe ~+

My wife and sister-in-law keep telling me that all I am doing is keeping the car nice the the next owner. I tell them I am keeping it clean for me because it is easier to clean a car that never sees rain. Not sure if I have my logic screwed up or not. I think that I will take the approach of someone mentioned above, go ahead and drive it if you want if it looks a little questionable vs. not chancing it and leaving it sit.
