Default Clear bra questions

Can you guys give me some input on what to expect with clear bra installs. I had it done on my new 997S. The guy did an ok job, but there are a lot of marks where he worked the film and the lines are not all straight and he did not wrap the film into the lights etc. What is the extent of coverage with some of your films. I realize that there are vast differences and that is the problem so I would like some input so I can see if I am being too picky. The first car I had done was a M3 and the guy that did it was a perfectionsist and he did an incredible job, unfortunately, he is not in the business any more.

Wrinkles are not acceptable. Some will cut partial bumper that ends at the corners of the bumper. Other will cut full bumper that wraps to the wheel well.

What do you mean by wrap into lights? Are you talking about side markers? I think that's OK. It despends on the design of the cut.

Important thing is no wrinkle or trapped air. The line should be straight, especially the hood and fender.

Yeah, it really needs to resemble paint. No obvious marks, stretches, bubbles, wrinklies, etc... The hoodline, or film edge where it ends is acceptable, but again has to be straight. There is no reason for anything less than a perfect install.

Keep the comments coaming, I have a feeling my installation may not be up to snuff, but I want to here some more comments before I make a final decision and go back to the dealer. You really can't photo this stuff so you have to verbally describe it and that is difficult. The job is definitely not the caliber of my first install.

I just got mine done yesterday the guys did a fantastic job...

No obvious marks, stretches, bubbles, wrinkles, etc. Plus he made sure that all the corners were cut clean with no sign of abrasion. The edges had no residue from the stuff they used plus they washed the front of the car and waxed it!

After that they cleaned the garage! And fed my dog [don’t even have a dog]...kidding.

DO NOT SETTLE FOR ANYTHING LESS THAN PERFECT!

I've had a 2000 M5 (first one they'd ever seen), an O2C2 , and now a GT3 done by Armour Glove. They were meticulous. You can't see a wrinkle nor bubble anywhere on the car. I got the full treatment each time. The M5 has 99,000 miles with no trouble from the film. It has saved the finish from damage repeatedly!!

It seems like this process is only as good as the installer. Maybe your guy just isn't that good. If you can't live with it get your money back and go with a better referral.

You have a bummer job. Mine looks great. The only problem is that you have to clean every single seam after waxing the car (which I did for the first time yesterday) - and that takes some time.
You should basically forget that you have the clear bra. If, after installation, you are still noticing something, then it wasn't done right.

Yea my guy did not do a good job. I just wanted to confirm it. The guy that did the first clear bra for me is considered one of the best in the industry but he is on a break now. But I have confirmed that the problems I suspected will never disappear from my bra so I will ask for my money and seek another source. Hopefully the dealer will not give me a hassle when I as for my money back.

Dark cars show the imperfections the most. If you had a black car, it would not look perfect no matter what. I got a few 2nd opinions on mine from other business and they were shocked that mine was done so well. I was not completely impressed because of a few tiny bubbles here and there, which is why I sought out professional opinions. Most people don't notice the imperfections until they get very close to the car or unless I point it out. Yeah, the link above clearly shows a bad job that would have looked more like a freak show on a dark car.

My clear bra did not look anything like these but still not to my level of satisfaction. It is at the Porsche dealer having some H&R lowering springs installed. When I get it back I will try to get some closeup pics. posted.
