Default "Launch" car MSRP

I have a friend who has a black/black 2005 Carrera S "launch" car. It has all the options you would expect: full leather, ceramic brakes, etc.

He is offering to sell it to me for what the dealer would give him on trade. I would probably do a lease.

I need to tell my lease guy the exact sticker price on the car, and my friend is traveling at the moment and can't remember exactly how much he paid for it.

Does anyone know what the exact MSRP was on one of these cars?

Thanks!

$99.3 K sticker, pretty sure -- maybe ask jcnesq, he bought his launch day.

Yeh - the S "launch" cars had an MSRP of 99.3, made up as follows:

Base $79,100
Full Leather $3,315
Adaptive Sport Seats $2,695
Self Dimming Mirrors $385
Heated Front Seats $480
Ceramic Composite Brakes-PCCB $8,150[ ]
Sport Chrono Package $920
Navigation for PCM $2,070
Bose $1,390
Destination $795

The special bonus with the launch cars was that they didn't charge the normal $115 for floor mats!

Just talked to my local Porsche dealer, and he tracked the car's VIN in the Porsche computer and came up with a sticker price of $99,415. This is interesting, because it is exactly $115 more than jcnesq mentioned. It seems the dealer included the cost of the floormats in his number.

The car has 3,300 miles. I'll followup next Tuesday after I know for sure this deal is a go. Don't want to jinx it in the meantime!

Thanks for the info!

Is there anything else that differentiates a "launch" car?

Any downside to having what is obviously a very early production vehicle?

Chomping at the bit to get this deal closed. I know the car has a few blemishes in the paint, and needs some TLC, but overall I think it will still be an excellent value.

I don't think there is any downside - I'm over 10,000 miles and no problems except one minor, minor problem with the rear hatch latch. You have a warranty. I say go for it!

So, I went and looked at the car tonight. It's perfect, with the exception of a little 1.5 inch long rash on the front bumper, and a tiny nick on the edge of the passenger door.

The car drove great. It's got 4,000 miles, and quite a different drive than the Corvette that has been my daily driver for some time now.

I've got to make up my mind whether to purchase. I think I'm going to pull the trigger. My initial intention was to make it my new daily driver, but after seeing how beautiful it is, I'd almost be hesitant to subject it to the ugly daily rigors of Chicago traffic.

If I do purchase, I'll post some pics!

Here are the key issues with the 2005 997S launch cars:
1. Radio has no Mp3 capability, which after June production is standard.
2. latch issues as described above -- see "electrical gremlins" post
3. Rattling in the doors on some cars due to the airbag pipes not being secured well. If you drove the car and there was no rattling, no worries.
4. No TPMS -- which is now available on 2006 models.
Otherwise --- great car!
