Default Is this ALSO Parking Assist?

Any idea what these circles are? If they're merely screw covers they look like Parking Assist. FWIW.

If you're parallel parking at speeds fast enough for the spoiler to be up, remind me to park on the OTHER side of the street.

Those must be screw covers.

MMD - those are are simply plugs to hide the screw heads. The attached pic shows the sensors for the park assist. Makes the butt look "Butt-Ugly" IMO! They look like mini-warts. However, I guess they would compliment the Sport Chrono "dash-wart"!

That would be great if they are sensors but they aren't for reason mentioned. I don't like the buttons on the bumper look. If they could make the wing go up quicker when you are in reverse, this idea could work. But then, people will lose their sensor if they upgrade spoiler.

I wanted originally to get park assist, but my dealer talked me out of it. I'm glad he did.

You'd think with all the technology used in these car, there'd be a better way to do it.

I just saw the pic of the rear bumper with the park assist sensors that Carbon_00 posted on another thread. There is a HUGE difference in the looks of the 996 sensors and the 997 sensors. The 997 sensors look like Bumper Plugs, not like warts or bullet holes like the 996. Here is the thread with that pic (go to page 2)

Man, you guys are a riot! All these fecund ideas and clever humors!

That leads to good brainstorming for Porsche designers: are y'all listening?

Put the FUGLY sensors in the spoiler. Have it deploy when the car is in reverse for parking. Just think: you can charge more for it that way because demand will go up!!

Make the sensors work full time. When another car is parking near you have the sensors flash the tail or headlights when the parking car get too close! Porsche would CLEAN UP ($$$) with THAT option.

I think for the sensors to work properly they have to be on the rearmost surface of the car. It's a "proximity sensing system" measuring the distance between the sensor and the nearest solid object. Sensors on the rear edge of the spoiler wouldn't work.

But...what if you could mount radar detection sensors on the spoiler's edge? That would be cool.

I'm not an engineer (either?) but I bet it's no problem to angle the suckers downwardor otherwise make them work. I'm sure being lower and closer (like the current optional sensors) is not a real advantage because they have electronic (infrared? Laser?) rulers which measure distances quite accurately. You might be quite correct from a cost-to-produce standpoint. Who knows? Just chatting... .

The frickin' radar lidar detector (antenna? sensor?) is a great idea. No kidding. Maybe there's a aftermarket way to do it. A DIY way? Did you see how big those antennas are for the built-in passport XR (or whatever it's called). Would be nice to hide them insted of bolting them on the lic plate frame.
hummmm.
