The Fake Quad Tips Exposed

The bottom line is that in a street car it really doesn't matter. The exhaust manifold for each bank of cylinders dumps into a series of two large vessels, the last of which has the exhaust tips attached. There is no correlation between the number of cylinders and the number of exhaust tips. The plumbing doesn't matter if it's just one pipe or two pipes or one split into two or three. It's just cosmetic at that point, provided the flow is not restricted in the process. So really, there is nothing fake about having quad tips on a horizontally opposed 6 cylinder car. The only thing fake about our S tips is the facade that makes the pipes look bigger than actual size. Otherwise be proud of the distinctive look that the quad tips give the Carrera S. ... I am.

Anyone get their recall notice yet? I got mine Friday. Porsche recalled the car to have new "tail pipes" put on. The reason? They don't want to be responsible for damaging the car following you! Ha!
It's supposed to be a 40 minute repair. Any authorized Porsche dealer can make the repair. Ok, so for $90k my Carrera S groans and squeaks when it gets wet (something in the suspension), the trunk lid pops open for no apparent reason, my Boes speakers rattle, the car often just refuses to start, at 5000 miles my tires are wearing like hell on the inside because the camber is wrong, the horn sounds like it came out of a Ford, now the damned exhaust system is falling off. So, when I take it in for the recall.... they're going to have to fix everything else too. I'll tell you, this is starting to **** me off to the point that I don't think I'd ever buy another one. What happens if all of this crap starts falling off at 150+mph? Porsche has taken a real slide. Remember when the cars were all metal?
I'm really let down by what I got for the money. For that kind of money it should cook dinner for me!
It's embarrassing. My wife actually laughs at me for spending so much money, when I could have had a new Z06 Corvette for a lot less money......and it probably wouldn't have fallen apart in 5 months either, and it's a lot faster. Grrrrrrrrr...... if I don't have a watch on, who knows what time it is? The clock in a Porsche sure won't tell you. I don't know where they come up with their pricing. It's the name you're buying. This car should sell for around $50k~!!!!!

This is another pet peeve. The 911 always sounded good from the exhausts. Now, Porsche just wants you to THINK the car sounds good by putting in a fake noisemaker that works out of air being sucked through a resonator in the intake. I also don't see how that Fabspeed thing could be a cold air intake. It's just a silicone tube that replaces your stock intake hose. Where does the performance increase come from? There isn't any.
