Quote from my insurance agent...
"Yes, I spoke with the dealership and with Progressive. The dealership is stating that the Insurance Co has it wrong, because Porsche made a change in their VIN#. ALL the Ins. Co. that we have talked to indicate that the Vin# is a 911 Turbo."
Anybody else have this problem? And if so how did you resolve it?

Long time problem (there are some old threads here). I wrote to the President of PCNA last year and spoke to his delegate and was informed they would work on the problem. I've been driving a "Turbo" since last August, but my June 2005 insurance renewal now seems to have fixed the problem (unfortunately the car seemed to lose power right after the renewal came
).
The insurers get their info from several private databases. Perhaps the one my insurer (Safeco) uses is fixed and the one Progressive uses is not.

I had the same problem. But it was resolved after my car arrived at the dealership and they updated the registration. I then had my insurance company contact my rep and they got the problem resolved. Get the car registered first with your dealership then correct the insurance now that the proper Vin number has been rectified.
Hope this helps.

QUICK - bury your car at sea, report it as stolen, then have your insurance company by you a replacement 911 turbo

I read this post yesterday just when my renewal of my Geico policy came in the mail; I had added my 997S on June 2nd. Sure enough, they had it rated as a turbo or even possibly a Turbo GT2 (according to my insurance ID card). I called Geico's customer service and insisted on speaking with an underwriter as the customer service rep had no concept of the significance of the VIN coding. After about 10 mins. on hold, the underwriter confirmed my car wasn't a turbo and issued a credit retroactive to June 2nd. At least I didn't have to get my dealer or PCNA involved as some 997 owners have.
