Default EVO cold air kit installation - DIY?

Just purchased a used 997S Black/Black, ready to do a few mods. Considering the EVOM old air kit over the Fabspeed. I'm not a mechanic but I am fairly skilled working with tools. Is this kit a do-it-yourself or should it be installed by a skilled mechanic?

Im interested in the EVOMS as well, Im most concerned about the MAF and the potential loss of torque.

Do you think it makes a difference, or is it a sound enhancement?

I'm curious to know why you'll change the headers out but leave the stock airbox in? Seems to me that the headers would be the last thing to do, after ECU and intake, no?

Reason being, warranty repairs would be a little bit more difficult to justify as outside influence if the stock headers/cats were on the car, vs. just an intake upgrade.

Not knocking, just trying to understand. Is there something about the stock airbox that I'm missing?

I've had issues on my 996 with the Fabspeed Cold air kit, the dealer ended up replacing the MAF.

EVOMS airbox makes a big difference in 2 things. Throttle Response and opening up airflow of increase in HP. The intake makes basic HP on standard ECU. About 5-10. Once the ECU is tuned you are looking an increase in 15-20 as by their dyno sheets. I personally run the intake on my car and it is VERY VERY nice in quality, fitment, sound is improved, and once tuned, it runs amazing. Cars are built to be improved for the performance side of it. Here is a pic of the intake on my car -

The over installation takes about 30min to 1 hour. All simple stuff you can do with hand tools and Elbow Grease

I got a couple on the shelf at a killer price, so PM me. If you dont like and dont think it helps, take it off and send it back for a refund. Cant beat that.!

I do hear good things about the EVOM compared to the fabspeed plastic red pipe. With the cats and headers, what do you think I can get out of it?

I have the EVO kit, GIAC chip, headers, sport cat backs and mufflers. The car hauls ***! It sounds great, has big ***** in the midrange and is a blast to drive. It is louder than the stock set up, but not to the point of being a pain. The EVO guys have been great. No complaints. Todd and his group do a solid job. They dyno everything.... and most of the staff drives performance cars. I will have my dyno sheets next week and will post if anyone is interested. Just picked up my car on Friday. They installed HR springs, I Forged Daytona's and the exhaust system. Could not be happier.
