Maryle8802, I just back from checking with the dealer and the 2006 order guides for 997's are not out. They are for the SUV. The factory issued bulletin # 84 on June 22nd which stated the all colors of instrument dials are not available on 987's and 997's for June and July builds. Only black. On the same bulletin there were a few other things like painted rear center consoles are not available. This is a lousy way to do business....

This is what I do not understand from a terrific company like Porsche. Here are options that have been available before that now are for the moment not. And then a few months from now they will suddenly be available again.

I totally agree.......if your going to even mention the option in any sort of literature you better make sure its available........all the time, from the start. That's one reason you spend the money on a Porsche.

It was almost comical to me how many options were not available when the 997 was introduced......and if I'm not mistaken the full leather option was not available for some "standard" colors not that far back.

Simple......if the option is shown in the set order guide it should be available, if Porsche doesn't want to offer it anymore they should then wait till the next model year to discontinue it.

Skidude, Thanks for the information -- that's more than I got from my sales guy. I guess deleting an option is better than holdiing up production on my car. Anyway, there's always the aftermarket for these things.

I checked with the dealer today to see what they would charge for the carrera white instrument dials. I would just order them and put them on after the car is delivered. For a $860 option, the dealer wanted $2,500. I couldn't believe that. I will look around. I will keep the line position to get the car and update it later with aftermarket equipment....

This is another problem with some of the sales people. If they do not know what options are delayed and you order your car it can just sit with Porsche N.A. until Porsche A.G. accepts it. I like that we can really customize our Porsche but I dislike these issues. I am purchasing a Luxury automobile not a honda. So I want they ability Porsche gives us by choosing what options my car has and colors etc.. I do not expect these issues from a company that builds Luxury automobiles.

I'm sorry --- I meant the MY 2006 United States version order guide with pricing in U.S. Dollars will be available at the dealerships in August. I appreciate the Euro version however in terms of what's offered even if the prices aren't accurate for the US.
Has there been a US order guide put out in PDF format that I don't know about?
