Default Blk/Blk, Red/Blk people-How's the A/C in 105+ temps?

Hi,

I'm trying to decide what color to get for a 997, and am seriously considering black/black. I live in the Los Angeles area, and have to drive through the San Fernando Valley several days a week, where it is usually over 100 degrees in the summer. I've seen as high as 113. I currently drive a C5 Corvette Torch Red/Black (similar to Guards Red), which has an amazing A/C system. I set the climate control for 72 degrees, and you'd never know it was 113 outside, until you get out, open the window, or look at the exterior temp guage. The A/C blower isn't even on high speed.

So here is a question for the 997 black/black people who live in hot areas (105-115), will the A/C do the job and stabilize under these conditions, or should be looking at a lighter exterior color?

If black won't cut it, would Guards Red help enough?

Thank you for your input.

Michael

Default black?

It was 115 in Phoenix today and the A/C in my 997 (silver/black) worked just fine. I LOVE black cars but would never again buy one while living here.... Check out GT silver... It's not cheap but looks amazing...

Black should be fine providing you don't mind it. Tinting windows should help if you're into that.

I agree - the HVAC in the 997 is incredibly powerful and efficient. Although I run hot personally, it's not uncommon for me to raise the temperature during a typical city drive here or there.

Dark exterior (Carmon Red) and black interior here. We are tipping the readings on the temperature between 95 and 100 F lately. Indeed the leather is hot when sitting on the lot of a day. However, the airco is doing its job pritty good. No complaints in that area.

Default Works pretty well..

Carmon red with Grey interior....
It was 101 when I got into the car in Valencia yesterday, and it took about 10 minutes for the car to cool down completely. It works well, and the grey isn't hot to the touch when it is that hot out.
