Two completely different animals BD. I will be ordering the new 400+ HP M3 with DSC when it's available next year to replace our 330Ci, but we concider that our "family" car... If you are looking for a fun "roomy car" now the M5 or M6 will fill that bill quite nicely. .

BMW is too ugly to consider anymore. Try as I might, I can't warm up to that fat angular pointy-curve balloon look. I'm done with BMW. When my E46M3 wears out I don't know what I'm gonna do for a sedan, or sports coupe.

I had a 645ci and lost £13350 depreciation in 8 months. Over the same period would have lost about £4000 on a 911. I am in the motor trade and there are already jokes in the trade as to the M6's value after 1yr on the basis that it is so much more money than the new M5.

The M6 will be one heck of a car. 500HP V-10? This is not "just" another sedan-coupe family mobile. Have you heard the thing? I have not but have heard the M5 with the same engine....amazing. Something Porsche really didnt nail until the Carrera GT (now that thing sounds amazing). That said, my guess is the M6 will be just too heavy....I owned a 1988 M5, which was 3100 lbs with 286 hp, and it was a ton of fun to drive. The next version was 400 or so pounds heavier and lost its appeal to me. The M Class cars have been gaining weight ever since. The 997 weighs around 3100 (C2) and feels just about perfect. If they get the M6 down to around 3500 lbs, it might be some fun (the current turbo is around 3400 if I remember right), but I have a feeling it will come in close to 4000.

Bloated looks, too heavy, Pontiac styling, anemic brakes and isn't the torque kind of low for such high HP?

That's fine since word is out that GM probably will cancel Pontiac (along with Buick and Saab) in order to avoid bankruptcy.

I would never buy a car unless it looks beautiful, no matter what engine or performance the car has. To me, BMW's are just ugly. A company producing and allowing a poor design to last has little appeal to me. BMW's claim of "the utimate driving maching" is also bogus. I don't think ppl buy BMW if all they want is a sports car. Majority of BMW buyers are poseurs that want seating for 4. That is not a requirement for a sport car.
