I placed this poll on the Cayenne page but would like to see what 997 owners think as well...
Hi All...
In my ongoing saga of whether to make my first p-car a CTT or a 997 C4S, I would like to do a simple unscientific poll.
Say you're me...you've always driven sports cars, you've had amateur track level experience, you once owned a jeep grand cherokee which was OK and served its purpose by living in Manhattan at the time...you love your little modified Audi TT because it's quick (note, not fast) and fun to drive - and it has AWD and can get around Boston 365 days a year except for 1-2 days at which time my wife's Subaru is God.
I enjoyed my CTT test drive and love the thing - I don't care that some people think it's ugly or not a 'real' Porsche. Obviously, I love the 911 - anyone who doesn't isn't likely to be found in my world.
I have ONE parking space for MY car in Boston.
Now Porsche starts showing off the new 997 C4S - yummy!
So,...you live in the city, there are pot holes and lots of snow, you presently drive a sports car which only gets 2-3 flats per year from the pot holes - YOU CAN CHOOSE ONLY ONE - an '06 CTT or a '06 C4S.
Your thoughts please.

C TT...
I've got a Cayenne S for the snow and a Carrera S for the sun and if I had to choose just one in this place (somewhat like your's without all the good things) I'd take the Cayenne S in a heart beat. Everyday I kick myself for not getting a custom built Cayenne Turbo and may yet... soon.
My reasoning, the 911 is just too beautiful, inside and out, for winter abuse... from road sand, liquid salt ice melt, the rocks flying up off of other cars, and the strange unidentified brown crap that crystalizes everywhere. I couldn't ruin a Carrera that way IF there were a choice. It would be like making a stunningly beautiful, hard bodied woman dig coal everyday when there were 10 scar knuckled men waiting to do the job.
The Cayenne is an amazing SUV and a turbo would be the ULTIMATE city vehicle. BTW, Bridgestone Blizzak tires make the Cayenne a flippin' snow cat on the road.

The Cayenne Turbo is really something. Great power, great handling, and plenty of room for passengers. I know many have mixed feelings about Porsche making an SUV, but I for one am glad they did. Having owned a BMW X5 (the 4.4 Sport), I can honestly say the Turbo blows it away. If I could only have a single car under $100,000, it would be the Cayenne Turbo.

I much rather drive a sports car than a truck, and especially if the badge on the front says "Porsche" so for me the choice would be no brainer, 997.

I was in a similar position, however, without the snow. I took the 997. I would love to own the 9974S in the snow. What a great drive, drifting and playing through the snow.

Thanks ALL!!!!
Despite the need for speed, need for manual tranny, no kids, very understanding wife etc etc - it's still a hard decision!!!!!!!!! Love the 997, love the CTT.
My gut isn't leaning one way or another...which is astounding as I get older!
