Default Placed my order on a 2006 997 S - Yes!!!

After over a year of research, many wonderful nights of 997 dreaming, many wonderful days of 997 dreaming, incredible test drives and fantastic feedback from many happy owners like yourself - I finally pulled the trigger!

I am so excited! I ordered a July build 2006 997 S in Seal Grey w/ manual transmission and black interior. When I drove the base 997 a few months ago I was amazed by how incredible this car actually is. I believe that the test drive threw me over the edge, bigtime!

I went for the S because many of the options that I liked (19" wheels, PASM, Xenon, etc) were part of the package and I also wanted the extra power.

Here are the options that I selected:

19” Classic Wheels

Colored Porsche Wheel Crest

Sport Chrono Package

Porsche embossed on the head restraints

Heated Seats

Three Spoke Multi-function Steering Wheel

Bose Audio

Navigation for PCM

Waiting will be hard, but I made it this far Hopefully I will have the car in August!!! My dream finally came true - whoo hooo!!!!!

Congratulations!!! I have a July build and I am a waiter also.

Sorry to rain on your enthusiasm, but you will NOT get your car in August even if the boat arrives on August 1. There is already a memo out that says you be waitin until mid-late September when the official MY2006 is announced. Cars that arrive early will sit in the yard. I am 'on the same boat' as you are .

Congratulations on the new 997. I have a quick question, are the classic 19's the 5 spokes I've seen on several S's and also in the magazines?

Thanks,

Forget the multifuction wheel, get the thicker one instead. But congrats, the waiting is aweful!

I didn't realize there was a wheel option available. I thought all S's came with the 19's.

You can pay a little more for a better looking wheel IMO. Either way you go, they are still 19" wheels (not 18").

This was under big debate - I like the volume controls on the wheel and the overall look of the MF wheel. Call me crazy....but the stock wheel looks like it is out of a MINI or VW?!?!?

Congratulation, looks like you have been through an identical process to myself. I first visited the Porsche Centre many months ago and since then have been exploring imaginative ways to get into debt. I too finally pulled the trigger yesterday:-

-C2S
-Seal Grey
-black interior,
- navigation
- wheel creasts
- sports seats

The car is due for March delivery and my dealer has arranged for a half day "race-track" experience in October - can't wait.

Somehow feel more worthy to post now!!!

That is awesome - nice choice! Why is there such a delay with arrival?? March delivery is like a decade away??

Minimum delivery leadtime would be November but I need to hang on to my current car to clear off more of the finance. If I chopped it in in November I'd be looking at the value of the car being c£6k LESS than the outstanding finance - ouch

You are correct thinking that; only 19s come on the S. It comes with "Carerra S" wheels standard. Carrera Classic III and Sport Design are your other 19" options for the S.

Default Similar Thoughts

I had similar thoughts as yourself. I decided to get the GT3 vice the 997 S. Both great cars with differtent missions. If you want a drivers sports car with few bells and whistles, get the GT3 (now used as pretty much sold out). If your looking for high performance with more comfort features for long road trips, then the Carrera S is the choice.

Cheers/John
