For those of you who had their windows tinted, did you have to put a ceramic film in car so that it would not interfer with the antenna? I called a local tint place that is supposed to be the best in the area and that is what they are telling me. I've not heard of the creamic tint before. Any information anyone has would be appreciated.

I had mine tinted last week and my place who is very good and deals with p cars all the time said nothing of this. Furthermore I have had no problems at all with any of my antennas since getting it tinted. I doubt it matters but I did put st. legal tint on mine.

isnt the antenna imbedded in the front glass anyway? so unless youre tinting the windshield, i doubt it would afffect any electronics in the car. the only advantage of ceramic tint is not interfering with the rear sensor for your radar detector.
on the topic of window tint, has anyone had any problems with the dot matrix around the glass? ive seen a few cars with tint not adhering well to that area leaving a white border around the glass. i hate that.

I need to go look at my car I guess. Something I should know anyway. I was told by some that the antenna is in the back window, now you're saying it's in the front window. If it's in the front then that's great, if it's in the back then I'm told the tint will mess up the reception. I had my BMW tinted and it is having issues with the dots as well. I've taken it back and they fix it but it never seems to last. What are those dots for anyway?

The ceramic tint also has a different look, which I like better. YMMV.
It's a little bit thicker, so it has more trouble with those little dots. Also had a little trouble with the defroster matrix on the rear window -- it was a bit blurry to see through at first, but after it cured for several weeks it was much better.
Full disclosure, I have a 996, and don't know if you guys have the same type of defroster matrix on the rear window.

Thanks Moogle. I went ahead and had the windows tinted using the ceramic film. So far the car looks great, in a day or two when it completely dries I'll know for sure if there were any problems. Of course it's raining all day today so no chance to get it out and take any pics in the sun. I did drive it around a bit yesterday when it was sunny, and I could really tell a difference in the amount of heat inside the car with the windows rolled up.
