Good topic:

1. Oil measurement: I do and don't like the electronic version. I have the same experience as somebody else mentioned: it looks as if it is not consistent and the steps are wide, it almost like not enough, OK too much.

2. I see that some people say that they like to have the radio off, but the screen on. I have that often, just turn the volume to zero. You can also turn the radio on and the screen off. Too many buttons: maybe so, but less than my previous car.

3. Break pads: indeed maybe too soft material. I know, the breaking is great due to that, but the rims are getting black and dusty fast. At the end of the day I'm OK with it as safety is number one and so breaking is important.

4. Mats: did anyone try to clean those yet? You have to be careful how you take them out. You can easily pull the total anti-slip system with it. Secondly, a little more quality and a logo would be great. No, not for aftermarket, just standard. I would appreciate it if they send me the upgraded version as a sort of service from the house :-))

Ah, c'mon gents. Who cares? One less thing to fiddle with. I hate it when that tip-clinging drop of oil escapes me and lands somewhere on the engine!

Have faith in the instruments and Porsche engineering (blah blah blah).

Afterall do you miss having a dipstick for the fuel tank?

I have an Alcantara wheel on my BMW. At 27K miles, it is not wearing well. Not bad, but it will have to be changed. It is a great material though. I have Alcantara all over the interior. I love it.

I can tell a lot about what's going on inside by seeing how the oil looks on a dipstick. Is there any other way of "sampling" the oil short of draining?

The 996 model had dipsticks. I assumed 997 had the same but I guess wrong. Regards. Mike

No one so far has mentioned a spare tire or the stainless steel exhaust pipes that look ugly most of the time. The lack of the spare is ok with me but at first everyone was talking about it.

Oh this is just GREAT! First, I find out that this car doesn't have a V8 and now you tell me I don't have a spare tire either?? Christ, what's next... the damn engine gonna' be in the trunk or something?

The engine's in the trunk? And I thought the empty space under the front hood was because this was some sort of no pollution, high gas mileage, eco friendly car. I was wondering why I still needed to put gas in it.

My only complaint is the size of the visors. The problem is compounded when you're 5'4 (me) and gets worse when you're 5'1 (wife). I guess an unabridged dictionary on the seat would solve that problem.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Just call 1-800-PORSCHE and talk to those astonishingly un-helpful Porsche reps. (are they in Pakistan?)

They'd be glad to take our complied suggestions and send them to your dealer service department.
