I'm looking at a 1980 911 SC and would require a PPI including leak-down to be performed (at my cost) on the car before getting too serious about it. Anyone know of a reliable guy out there?

Have Red Line in Santa Monica do it .. they are one of the best for checking out a car .

TRE Motorsports is in North Hollywood, which is next to Studio City. I think I've heard good things about them on the board, but I have NO experience with them, so perhaps someone else can pipe in with experience. I would cross-post on the 993 board - should be a lot of knowledge there.

That is it the SC is kind of there specially ... there is no better place to have a car like that checked out on LA ... at least that is my opinion ... those guys have been there for over 25 years and are just great .

This car has been serviced there, but mostly at Aurel's and that is much closer for the owner to get to. I agreed to use Aurel's, hope they do a good job. I mentioned I want a leak-down and compression test especially, but that should be part of a correctly done PPI anyway shouldn't it?

Aurel & Don's and Red Line are the two top Porsche independents in LA. You can't go wrong with either.
