Because the Carrera celebrates the "Carrera Pan-America" race from the 1950's (please correct me if i've got this wrong) which they won on numerous occassions.

Targa = plate in Italian

But most Porschephiles know the word from the "Targa Florio" race around Sicily that Porsche won so often they essentially "owned" it.

right, especially the '69 race where the wyer 908/3s dominated the f-cars w/ the homefield advantage and twice the power! i love the porsche film w/ redman practicing in a road-going targa, at speed, through sicilian villages, nearly hitting chickens, pedestrians...

Renn used to mean something to Porsche, now they're more interested in crap generated from "focus groups" . Cayman......give me a f$$ken break.
