Default Polar Silver!

Has anyone obtained or tried to order a polar silver 997 without paying the ungodly custom color price? I have heard that if you give the old paint code (?) and have an accomodating dealer it can be had. It seems absurd to pay the custom penalty for a color that used to be an option. Such a gorgeous 911 color. I'd like to order my 997S with it.... Thanks.

Porsche _give_ stuff away by their own ignorance? Holy Schmoly!

I'm sorry but my faith in them has just gone to ZERO!

I have owned both. Polar silver is a brighter silver with more blue in it. Arctic silver is a duller silver with more of a grayish tint. Both are good looking, but my vote goes to polar silver. Too bad they make you pay a premium for it.

Amazing you happened to have them side by side. I love Polar and was disappointed that they dropped the color option when I ordered my 997.

you can get polar as a custom order, i suspect it would look wonderful on a 997.

Polar silver is an amazing bluish silver. Highly recommended if you can wait and pay for a non-standard color...

i can't stop raving abuot polar, i saw a carrera on the road in that shade, the color seemed to change depending on light conditions, under direct sunlight it seemed to give off a very cool silver tone, but in indirect light conditions, the blue really shows off

wonderfully prismatic colour, reminds one of the magical things TVR does with paint.
