Default Daytime running lights

Anyone know if the 997 can be programmed to have daytime running lights? I have an 04 Cayenne as a loaner from the dealer and it has daytime running lights, so I am not sure if it is an option or a programming thing?

I have been told this can be done with the PIWIS but I dont know for sure. The Cayenne has this feature, it seems like 997/987 would as well. It wouldnt hurt to ask your dealership if it was possible.

Why bother? Supposedly the american driver has already become desensitized to them, negating any initial safety benefit.

Also, I guess they make the electrical system work significantly harder all the time.

Of course a potential improvement in safety is hard to argue against.

That seems surprising. On a subconcious level you'd think that a vehicle with lights would register better?? My money's still on the lights

in the daytime the chance of an accident is reduced 30% with the daytime running lights.

Actually, the September 2004 NHTSA Report indicated that in 2 vehicle collisions, there "may" (their word) have been a 5% improvement, but that their data was (again, their word) "inconclusive". Under the harsh light of good data collection, DRLs are fading (bad pun, I know).
