Default Checking oil level.

Does the oil level come on automatic when you fill the car with gas? Or do you have to do it by moving the program lever? Mine came on once out of many times of filling the tank.

A related question on the subject: Is there a dashboard indication of overfilling?

If you park on a flat and level surface... do your oil check on a regular basis before starting and driving off. It is a reliable and consistant form of measuring the oil.
