Default R&T best all around sports car.

OK, OK, I know all of you know the article. Not here to start a war or be a troll.

Just wanted to point out that in the 997S actually won first place in both the performance and the subjective ratings. Althought there were multiple factors in those two categories, the singlle category of price with that single one factor carried as much weight as each of the other two multi-factor categories.

As far as I'm concerned, in the areas that matter, the 997 is the WINNAH!

Just don't over rev that 997 and Porsche won't void your warranty.....I thought these cars were trackable?

The best thing about this car is that it - Like so many Porsches before it - is fun to drive even when you're not pushing it near its limits. It has great communication of the road and a feel that is simply unparalleled by any of its rivals.

Excuse me. Just what did you read? I read that the Corvette (the standard, not Z06 version) won overall. The Porsche Boxster S came in second, the 997 came in third. I was shocked that they rated the Boxster over the 997. What's with that? I'm in the market for a 997S, actually going to wait until the next model year so that the bugs get worked out. I have to admit there is a lot of negative input on the 997 here. I'm looking at all the competition. Another thing. Porsche better not rest on it's laurels. Corvette is offering up a heck of a car. The new Z06 is going to have a lot of people looking. If only it didn't, well.... look so much llke a Corvette. I'm hoping they will bump up the power a bit on the 06 997. Could happen.

cost was factored into the review.

still, if you read the article, it was the Boxster S that really impressed them.

If the upcoming Boxster S coupe had 300HP and was actually priced to reflect what deleting the roof saved - 997 sales would tank, and Porsche would peel off alot of C6 buyers too.

The 997S won the performance and subjective sections. It only got dinged because of price. That alone dropped it to third place. If you read the text they call the 997S the "best sports car under $100,000."

You are correct. I just got the latest Robb Report as well. They rated the 997 #2 after the Aston Martin. They called the Porsche "the ultimate refinement of the ultimate sports car" and that after 40 years it remains the "quintessential sports car". Just commenting that the competition is getting stiffer.

To my understanding, only 5,000 will be able to buy one in MY '06.
