Default Base 997 suspension set up-opinions please.

I had H&R springs on my 996 and it was dialed in as far as not pushing and very well balanced. The ride was very harsh daily though..

What should I do to the 997? Coilovers and springs, just springs...H&R again??????

Looking for your advice....

The ROW -20 mm sport suspention should come available in the near future.
Differances from your Std. chassis ride are:

Stabilizer Ft.
Std. chassis 23.6 x 3.5 mm
-20mm 24 x 3.8mm

Spring Struts ft.
Std. chassis spring rate= 27 N/mm
-20 mm= 36 N/mm

Spring struts rear
Std. chassis = 43 N/mm
-20 mm = progressive 60/90 N/mm

Stabilizer rear
Std. chassis 18.5 x 2.5mm
-20mm 19.6 x 2.6mm

Available now: The most popular package now for street/track combo use is probably the Bilstein PSS9.
PSS-9 is the adjustable, dual-spring, coil-over kit from Bilstein.
The fully-adjustable monotube gas shocks offer nine different settings to alter the compression and rebound settings.

Either way the wifey might not like the harsher ride, not to mention that it will take you out of S/S and into S, then you can go head to head with our friend SD.

With the re-classing at the last AX there was only SD in O/S and myself and one other in O/SS.

Happy motoring

They are adjusted manually.

What's the cost difference between PASM and a fully installed PSS-9 kit?

Option 475 "PASM" on a 997 is $1990

PSS-9 from Carnewal is 2050 Eur or $2656 + install and alignment.

You blindly ordered without knowing??

The H&R site lists their Sport Spring P/N 29188-1($499 kit) Approx front and rear lowering at 1.2.

You will get a lowered look if that is what you want. But will the car behave as it should?

Keep in mind that suspension systems are highly engineered and that the struts and springs are designed to work together to produce a desired result.

ie: If you ordered a MO30 or ROW30 for a 996 you get different springs as well as shocks.

If PASM is $650 cheaper and comes with all the factory warranty stuff, why would you not order it when ordering a 997?

For whom is the PSS-9 system worth the extra? What kind of driver?

Aftermarket lowering springs won't work with PASM.

-30.5 mm is quite a bit

The spring and strut combos are highly designed to work in concert together, and Porsche no doupt spent a few euros to match spring rates to shocks for a desired handling criteria.

Do you have any idea of what your new spring rate will be? Greater or less than what you are replacing... will you need different bump stops?

You will acheive that Lowered Look , at what cost

I want a combo of both looks and performance, but I won't go for looks if performance will suffer. Anyone want to chime in who has had a 996/997 with just springs? Did the car handle better?

My 996 handled better with the H&R springs only. It was balanced well and with added camber it was great in the handling dept. It was a pain on the streets everyday though and I would not do it to a 997 with PASM..........
