Post Engine Light

I Just purchased a 997s & the back up lights will not go on & I have an engine light that has gone on . I know Skip has has problems on his car & it looks like he is going to get all of his purchase price back. My car is not a lease it is a purchase. The dealer is going to flat bed the car back to his shop & I would like to know if anyone has had the same problem as of yet?The car only has 47 miles on it.!!

The car was delivered to a detailing shop for a clear bra & detail .They washed & detailed the car prior to doing the 3m paint protection work.

Based on other's reporting this problem it seems like the issues with the CEL coming on may have to deal with moisture getting into some components in the front hood latch area. Your circumstance is just one more confirmation of this possible theory.

Did you order the car from the factory and just receive it or did you buy a car that had been at the dealer for some time? The reason I ask is that I ordered a car in Oct which will be built on 1/24 and I was praying that Porsche had identified the problem and resolved it prior to my car being produced next week.

Hey, no offence but it would seem like this kind of a "minor" thing could easily be handled by the dealer without any further problems. We all go through it in some way with a new vehicle. When people read about these little things they begin to think negatively about the car, which combined with some of the bogus posts I've seen, may be totally unwarranted. If the problem persists then by all means let us know. Good luck with the dealer and your subsequent happy motoring!

No offence, just curious - when you say "easily handled" is it related to Skip's experience described in "in shop for 7th time in three months" thread?

I put a hold on the dealer picking up the car as I have to go out of town for a few days .The East coast is expecting a large snow storm this weekend so for now she is in the garage safe and sound. As soon as I find out what the problem was I will post it.
