Default What is the favored polish/wax?

I've used Zaino in the past but have been reading a lot of good things about Klass SG lately. I'm bringing home my 997 S on tuesday afternoon (12/14) and want to get a good protection on her right off the bat. I doubt the dealer does anything but will talk to them monday to be sure carnuba isn't used.

What do you guys use?

Thanks!

Gary,

Your comment on making sure carnuba isn't used....how come you don't want them to use it?

Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but I still like what multiple coats of a good carnuba does. Lately I have been using Pinnacle Sovereign, which they claim looks especially good on black and red, and I am quite happy with it on my black 997S. But if you search the threads here, you will find Zaino is quite popular, there are a lot of Rejex fans (I plan to put Rejex on my wife's Cayenne S), and P21 (perhaps on top of Klasse) seems to be popular. DO search the threads, as there is lots of information to be found.

Hi Chuck. It's not that carnuba is bad, its that I intend on using either Zaino or Klass SG and they need to both go over unwaxed surfaces to bond with the paint. Once the sealant is cured then carnuba can be applied for more depth/warmth.

Thanks for the input Jim. There is an excellent posting on this subject over on http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...ferrerid=38951

Yeah, Carnauba is great...except for the fact that it wont last as long as a carton of milk. I prefer it only as an additional layer for show.

Personally, I have achieved my best results using the Meguiars Deep Crystal Polish. ( which i never expected ) The Gold Class wax is very reflective. If you use the car regularaly, i would try their NTX wax, followed by something even more reflective that you like.

I did my concours process on my sister's metallic silver VW. It was horrible! You couldn't look at the car if the sun was out on a clear day! The reflection was painful! HAHAHA.

EDIT:
Oh, i also recommend using a mild paint cleaner before you wax. (unless the car is a daily driver and really dirty) Since your car is new, the paint should be really smooth still. Using a paint cleaner will make sure the polish is really going onto your paint and not dust that stuck on your paint or other stuff. It will also remove swirls and make sure your paint feels like silk when you are done! Thats the big test, if the paint isnt identical to silk...it needs work!

Gary-thanks.

I've been using traditional carnuba waxes for a long time but you guys are right-it doesn't last long. I've been researching Zaino, Rejex and others. May have to switch.
You CAN teach an old dog new tricks.

thanks

One Grand Blitz. Longest lasting carnauba I've every used, and easiest to apply/remove. Great depth of shine.

I ordered my 997S with the stock exhaust tips. What do you guys use to keep your tips looking new? I had the chrome on my boxsterS and a few years later they trully look awfull. This time around I would like to be able to keep my tips looking fresh.

I like Meguiar's NXT etc. They really seem devoted to the car industry and I support that

I think when you wash the car, wash the tips and they'll stay looking good. It's when you allow gunk(road salt etc.) to collect and then the heat to burn it on, they start to look bad.
