i vote black but think sea blue, sand beige or natural brown (saddle) all would look great as well.

My Boxster S was Cobalt Blue w/Graphite Grey interior and I got many compliments on the combo. If it'd had been possible, I'd have ordered my GT3 that way.

What was the key factor that made you decide on cobalt. I keep tossing between Lapis and cobalt blue. I saw a cobalt 996 in person and loved it. Then I saw cobalt in a magazine and it looked purple from certain angles. People have told me that it does look purple and since my memory is fading from the day I actually saw it and loved it I am starting to believe it looks purple.

Any feedback you could give me on cobalt would be great. I have all options picked out, color is the only thing driving me nuts. I really want a nice blue color, just not a purple.

Thanks

What is the paint code for the Cobalt Blue you are ordering? They have two versions, and i have had my car next to a "new" Cobalt Blue car to compare. Both colors are gorgeous in person. The newer cobalt Blue has more navy blue flakes in it. Its more of the blue color and less purple. It doesnt change as readily. The original color ( LM5N ) will turn completely purple in some direct lights, and even some angles. I can post pictures if needed.

LM5N is the original Cobalt used since 1991. What is the paint code you were given?

Black looks good, Grey looks great with it...Cobalt Blue interior doesnt look bad either...but my FAVORITE interior in a cobalt blue would be a burgandy or red leather interior! Thats a hot combo. If you get black or grey, get cobalt stitching and seat belts! You wont regret it!
Alternatively, blue piping on grey seats would work too, with just the seat belt edges in blue. (you might have to go through werks 1 for that though...)

Brian: When I ordered it was impossible to spec a GT3 with a Graphite Grey interior. Note I'm not talking about Natural Grey Leather, which I'd say is more Charcoal Black than Grey. If the order guide has changed I'm jealous you got my color combo.

2005: Under flourescent lighting Cobalt does have a purple tint but under bright sunlight it's the purest of the current Porsche blues - IMO.

Cobalt blue is fantastic.

I recently saw a cobalt blue C4S--best looking 996 I've seen!

Check out the Boxster gallery and search for cobalt blue--there are 996s in here also.

I got a black interior so i'm not sure. I thought you were talking about the exterior.

Brain: Nope, it's the Graphite Grey interior w/Cobalt Blue exterior combo I was referring to as not available on the GT3. After seeing that combo the darker interior colors just felt wrong to me. That's why I went with the 'classic' Silver exterior/Black interior combo on mine - which happened to match my dearly departed 911T.

Hey steve, nice avatar, man you are pushing that car, do I see tire smoke, and the way the left front tire is, that's one hairpin turn it looks like, or is it just before you did a 360

I'm thinking cobalt blue with black leather. "BLUE S2" great idea on the stiching, I saw a red car with red stiching on the seats, I agree that the blue stiching on black seats would look great.
what does the deviated stiching cost as an option. Also what is the option code for the new cobalt blue that looks less purple.

Thanks in advance

I've seen it with Black interior, and with Graphite. I lean toward the contrasting interior/exterior colors (my C4S Cab is GR/SB). I loved the Cobalt with Graphite, and even yellow belts for some 'pop' if you want it.

Then we can do a cobalt blue rear center console for you after the fact (saves a few hundred).
