Selling reason
Hi,
I'm selling it because of sudden unexpected bad health news.
Yes, there may be some cars available new at msrp, but here in Colorado, they are all spoken for a long time. My dealer cannot deliver until spring. None in Denver, Boulder.
Sure, they will be cheaper in six months, go ahead and wait.

Fascinating responses
Hi,
Thanks to all who replied.
Interesting responses. You would have thought I murdered someone.
This is supposed to be a Porsche forum for owners and fans. I can tell you this, if someone here is selling their car, I hope they get as much as they can for it. I think we all do, who wouldn't? But people seem to want me to give it away. Is the car not as perfect as before the 90 miles? Is it now mechanically not as sound? Not as fast? If I give it to the dealer for $10,000 less, and he resells it to you for $10,000 more, does that make the car better? Is the warranty better?
No, this just plays into the dealers hands. The car is the same either way. The dealer gets 10,000 for nothing, and in fact double-dips on the same car.
What suprises me here is that the resale value of the 997 is not known yet, but people are responding in a Pavlovian way thinking it must be worth less. This just hurts all future owners. Don't you want your cars to retain as much value as possible? How do you know that Porsche is going to dump on the market and lower values? The laws of supply and demand work for us when no cars are available for purchase. Don't we all want to be in the position of Ferrari owners, where used cars cost more than new? Maybe this car will be in demand for a long time.
Maybe people on this board just want to buy on the cheap. If so, you will have to wait, while others drive today.
As long as there are no cars for people to buy today, then they have to pay the market, and the market here in Colorado is msrp. There are no cars in the state. You can wait 3-6 months, or go out of state. Today it goes for what I paid for it.
Gees, you'd have thought I was gouging and asking over sticker.
Those who wish the car to devalue just play into the hands of the dealers. If we wouldn't stand for such nonsense our resale values would be better, but no, we all cave. I did it on this car, traded a perfect 40th with 1,000 miles for $63,000, stupid, I couldn't wait for a new car.
Thank you to those who expressed concern over my health, I will be fine, I had a two level lumbar fusion with carbon fiber cage and titanium plates and screws. My sports car days are over for the intermediate term.
Here's wishing your resales stay high,
Blue
