Default Pinning or not?

I’m familiar with the need to pin 997 TT w/the Metzger engine.

Im wondering if I can plan to get 50K before I drop the engine to pin? The car is a 2008 low mileage 997 TT, triptonic with zero track time.

Anyone go far before pinning? Am I playing with fire? Expecting too much?

The reason for my ask is I want a few years driving + routine maintenance before spending a bunch of money or wrench time.

Thank you in advance for your help!
Shawn

Not an issue until it dumps all the coolant onto the rear tires in the middle of a turn next to a concrete wall There's no set mileage or time for when that occurs.

Shawn, These cars are now 20+ years old and would need an engine out maintenence soon... Engine out-- get everything done at the same time.
It's always better to do a maintenence preemptively rather than unscheduled where you might have to do things randomly.

Such service could cost you anywhere between $7,000 - $15,000 so it's better to start working on that list soon as possible
By working on the list I mean, pin point the shop you plan on using, start gathering parts here and there and whn time is right, you would already be ready

I have 2 997 TT's, the one I plan on driving would need all this may be in a year and the second one that I don't plan on driving much, may be in 2-3 years.
These are lovely cars and there's nothing out there that matches them in aesthetically, performance or reliability wise.

Enjoy the car.

Why are you so deadest on a turbo? As C2 mentioned above they're extremely fast and reliable once you bulletproof them. But if the speed isn't a top priority, you could find a NA car that will still give you loads of fun and be much easier on the wallet and less involved to begin with. I've driven every turbo from the 997 forward, and quite frankly for me, it's too much. I don't want anything to do with it. I'll never squeeze every last drop out of my C4S so the turbo is total overkill for some people. I love them, but i wouldn't want to own one, as they get pricey to own.

Go pressure test it and see if it blows.
